Remember therefore how thou hast received and heard, and hold fast, and repent. If therefore thou shalt not watch, I will come on thee as a thief, and thou shalt not know what hour I will come upon thee.

My son, forget not my law; but let thine heart keep my commandments:For length of days, and long life, and peace, shall they add to thee.Let not mercy and truth forsake thee: bind them about thy neck; write them upon the table of thine heart:

My son, give me thine heart, and let thine eyes observe my ways.

Now also when I am old and grayheaded, O God, forsake me not; until I have shewed thy strength unto[ this] generation,[ and] thy power to every one[ that] is to come.

Therefore we ought to give the more earnest heed to the things which we have heard, lest at any time we should let[ them] slip.

That this may be a sign among you,[ that] when your children ask[ their fathers] in time to come, saying, What[ mean] ye by these stones?Then ye shall answer them, That the waters of Jordan were cut off before the ark of the covenant of the LORD; when it passed over Jordan, the waters of Jordan were cut off: and these stones shall be for a memorial unto the children of Israel for ever.

Come, ye children, hearken unto me: I will teach you the fear of the LORD.What man[ is he that] desireth life,[ and] loveth[ many] days, that he may see good?Keep thy tongue from evil, and thy lips from speaking guile.Depart from evil, and do good; seek peace, and pursue it.The eyes of the LORD[ are] upon the righteous, and his ears[ are open] unto their cry.The face of the LORD[ is] against them that do evil, to cut off the remembrance of them from the earth.

Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee.

And he spake unto the children of Israel, saying, When your children shall ask their fathers in time to come, saying, What[ mean] these stones?

And it shall be when thy son asketh thee in time to come, saying, What[ is] this? that thou shalt say unto him, By strength of hand the LORD brought us out from Egypt, from the house of bondage:And it came to pass, when Pharaoh would hardly let us go, that the LORD slew all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, both the firstborn of man, and the firstborn of beast: therefore I sacrifice to the LORD all that openeth the matrix, being males; but all the firstborn of my children I redeem.And it shall be for a token upon thine hand, and for frontlets between thine eyes: for by strength of hand the LORD brought us forth out of Egypt.

My son, keep my words, and lay up my commandments with thee.

Now therefore write ye this song for you, and teach it the children of Israel: put it in their mouths, that this song may be a witness for me against the children of Israel.

Seest thou how faith wrought with his works, and by works was faith made perfect?

How shall we escape, if we neglect so great salvation; which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed unto us by them that heard[ him];

Take ye therefore good heed unto yourselves; for ye saw no manner of similitude on the day[ that] the LORD spake unto you in Horeb out of the midst of the fire:

Take heed therefore how ye hear: for whosoever hath, to him shall be given; and whosoever hath not, from him shall be taken even that which he seemeth to have.

Take heed unto yourselves, lest ye forget the covenant of the LORD your God, which he made with you, and make you a graven image,[ or] the likeness of any[ thing], which the LORD thy God hath forbidden thee.

The living, the living, he shall praise thee, as I[ do] this day: the father to the children shall make known thy truth.

Whosoever[ he be] that doth rebel against thy commandment, and will not hearken unto thy words in all that thou commandest him, he shall be put to death: only be strong and of a good courage.
