爾之上帝耶和華、既絕斯民、以地錫爾、使爾安居其邑、則於疆圉之中、區別三邑。所得之境必分為三、亦修其途、使殺人者、可遁於彼、殺人者遁於彼、全其餘生、亦有定例、凡無讎怨、誤傷人命、如人與同儕、入林樵採、舉斧斫木時、鐵偶離柯、致擊同儕、以至於死、則其人必遁於斯邑、存其餘生、恐被殺之戚屬、中心如焚、追襲其後、以途延長及而殺之、然彼殺人者本無讎怨、罪不至死、故我諭汝、區別三邑。如爾遵從我所諭之命、愛爾上帝耶和華、恆行其道、蒙爾上帝耶和華循其所誓爾祖之言、恢廓爾境、以所許之地錫爾、則必於三邑之外、別設三邑、
