to which anyone who had killed a person could flee if they had unintentionally killed a neighbor without malice aforethought. They could flee into one of these cities and save their life.

Suppose someone killed a person they didn’t hate and without meaning to do it. That person could run to one of those cities and stay alive.

就要分出几座城，为你们作逃城，使误杀人的可以逃到那里。这些城可以作逃避报仇人的城，使误杀人的不至于死，等他站在会众面前听审判。

你们给利未人的城邑，其中当有六座逃城，使误杀人的可以逃到那里。此外还要给他们四十二座城。

这六座城要给以色列人和他们中间的外人，并寄居的，作为逃城，使误杀人的都可以逃到那里。“倘若人用铁器打人，以致打死，他就是故杀人的；故杀人的必被治死。若用可以打死人的石头打死了人，他就是故杀人的；故杀人的必被治死。若用可以打死人的木器打死了人，他就是故杀人的；故杀人的必被治死。报血仇的必亲自杀那故杀人的，一遇见就杀他。人若因怨恨把人推倒，或是埋伏往人身上扔物，以致于死，或是因仇恨用手打人，以致于死，那打人的必被治死。他是故杀人的；报血仇的一遇见就杀他。“倘若人没有仇恨，忽然将人推倒，或是没有埋伏把物扔在人身上，或是没有看见的时候用可以打死人的石头扔在人身上，以致于死，本来与他无仇，也无意害他。会众就要照典章，在打死人的和报血仇的中间审判。会众要救这误杀人的脱离报血仇人的手，也要使他归入逃城。他要住在其中，直等到受圣膏的大祭司死了。但误杀人的，无论什么时候，若出了逃城的境外，报血仇的在逃城境外遇见他，将他杀了，报血仇的就没有流血之罪。因为误杀人的该住在逃城里，等到大祭司死了。大祭司死了以后，误杀人的才可以回到他所得为业之地。

“耶和华你神将列国之民剪除的时候，耶和华你神也将他们的地赐给你，你接着住他们的城邑并他们的房屋，就要在耶和华你神所赐你为业的地上分定三座城。要将耶和华你神使你承受为业的地分为三段；又要预备道路，使误杀人的，都可以逃到那里去。“误杀人的逃到那里可以存活，定例乃是这样：凡素无仇恨，无心杀了人的，就如人与邻舍同入树林砍伐树木，手拿斧子一砍，本想砍下树木，不料，斧头脱了把，飞落在邻舍身上，以致于死，这人逃到那些城的一座城，就可以存活，免得报血仇的，心中火热追赶他，因路远就追上，将他杀死；其实他不该死，因为他与被杀的素无仇恨。所以我吩咐你说，要分定三座城。耶和华你神若照他向你列祖所起的誓扩张你的境界，将所应许赐你列祖的地全然给你，你若谨守遵行我今日所吩咐的这一切诫命，爱耶和华你的神，常常遵行他的道，就要在这三座城之外，再添三座城，免得无辜之人的血流在耶和华你神所赐你为业的地上，流血的罪就归于你。

藉这两件不更改的事，神决不能说谎，好叫我们这逃往避难所、持定摆在我们前头指望的人可以大得勉励。
