Because he loved your ancestors and chose their descendants after them, he brought you out of Egypt by his Presence and his great strength,

He loved your people of long ago. He chose their children after them. So he brought you out of Egypt. He used his great strength to do it.

And because he loved your fathers and chose their offspring after them and brought you out of Egypt with his own presence, by his great power,

Because he loved your ancestors, he chose to bless their descendants, and he personally brought you out of Egypt with a great display of power.

Moses said to the people,“ Remember this day on which you came out from Egypt, from the place where you were enslaved, for the LORD brought you out of there with a mighty hand– and no bread made with yeast may be eaten.

In the future, when your son asks you‘ What is this?’ you are to tell him,‘ With a mighty hand the LORD brought us out from Egypt, from the land of slavery.

And the LORD said,“ My presence will go with you, and I will give you rest.”

His people remembered the ancient times. Where is the one who brought them up out of the sea, along with the shepherd of his flock? Where is the one who placed his holy Spirit among them,the one who made his majestic power available to Moses, who divided the water before them, gaining for himself a lasting reputation,

to the one who struck down the firstborn of Egypt, for his loyal love endures,and led Israel out from their midst, for his loyal love endures,with a strong hand and an outstretched arm, for his loyal love endures,to the one who divided the Red Sea in two, for his loyal love endures,and led Israel through its midst, for his loyal love endures,and tossed Pharaoh and his army into the Red Sea, for his loyal love endures,

When Israel left Egypt, when the family of Jacob left a foreign nation behind,Judah became his sanctuary, Israel his kingdom.The sea looked and fled; the Jordan River turned back.The mountains skipped like rams, the hills like lambs.Why do you flee, O sea? Why do you turn back, O Jordan River?Why do you skip like rams, O mountains, like lambs, O hills?

The LORD pays attention to the godly and hears their cry for help.

“ I have shown love to you,” says the LORD, but you say,“ How have you shown love to us?”“ Esau was Jacob’s brother,” the LORD explains,“ yet I chose Jacob

It is not because of your righteousness, or even your inner uprightness, that you have come here to possess their land. Instead, because of the wickedness of these nations the LORD your God is driving them out ahead of you in order to confirm the promise he made on oath to your ancestors, to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.

I will instruct and teach you about how you should live. I will advise you as I look you in the eye.

To them belong the patriarchs, and from them, by human descent, came the Christ, who is God over all, blessed forever! Amen.

O children of Abraham, God’s servant, you descendants of Jacob, God’s chosen ones!He is the LORD our God; he carries out judgment throughout the earth.He always remembers his covenantal decree, the promise he made to a thousand generations–the promise he made to Abraham, the promise he made by oath to Isaac!He gave it to Jacob as a decree, to Israel as a lasting promise,

Through all that they suffered, he suffered too. The messenger sent from his very presence delivered them. In his love and mercy he protected them; he lifted them up and carried them throughout ancient times.

Wake up! Wake up! Clothe yourself with strength, O arm of the LORD! Wake up as in former times, as in antiquity! Did you not smash the Proud One? Did you not wound the sea monster?Did you not dry up the sea, the waters of the great deep? Did you not make a path through the depths of the sea, so those delivered from bondage could cross over?Those whom the LORD has ransomed will return; they will enter Zion with a happy shout. Unending joy will crown them, happiness and joy will overwhelm them; grief and suffering will disappear.

Or has God ever before tried to deliver a nation from the middle of another nation, accompanied by judgments, signs, wonders, war, strength, power, and other very terrifying things like the LORD your God did for you in Egypt before your very eyes?

Certainly the LORD watches the whole earth carefully and is ready to strengthen those who are devoted to him. You have acted foolishly in this matter; from now on you will have war.

At that time I will be the God of all the clans of Israel and they will be my people. I, the LORD, affirm it!”

He has done this to show mercy to our ancestors, and to remember his holy covenant–the oath that he swore to our ancestor Abraham. This oath grants

It is not because you were more numerous than all the other peoples that the LORD favored and chose you– for in fact you were the least numerous of all peoples.Rather it is because of his love for you and his faithfulness to the promise he solemnly vowed to your ancestors that the LORD brought you out with great power, redeeming you from the place of slavery, from the power of Pharaoh king of Egypt.So realize that the LORD your God is the true God, the faithful God who keeps covenant faithfully with those who love him and keep his commandments, to a thousand generations,

“ You, my servant Israel, Jacob whom I have chosen, offspring of Abraham my friend,you whom I am bringing back from the earth’s extremities, and have summoned from the remote regions– I told you,“ You are my servant.” I have chosen you and not rejected you.
