He said of his father and mother,‘ I have no regard for them.’ He did not recognize his brothers or acknowledge his own children, but he watched over your word and guarded your covenant.

Levi didn’t show special favor to anyone. He did not spare his father and mother. He didn’t excuse his relatives or his children. But he watched over your word. He guarded your covenant.

who said of his father and mother,‘ I regard them not’; he disowned his brothers and ignored his children. For they observed your word and kept your covenant.

The Levites obeyed your word and guarded your covenant. They were more loyal to you than to their own parents. They ignored their relatives and did not acknowledge their own children.

天主歟、此恩在主目中猶以為小、更許施恩於僕之家、至於久遠、主天主歟、恩待我較勝於他人、又作待我與待至高之人無異

摩西見民縱肆、為亞倫所縱容、致恥辱於敵、摩西乃立於營門曰、凡歸主者可來就我、於是利未子孫、咸集就摩西、摩西謂之曰、以色列天主耶和華如是命曰、爾曹各繫刀於腰、在營中往來、從此門至彼門、拜犢者、無論兄弟朋友鄰里、盡殺之、利未人遵摩西所命而行、是日、民中死亡者約三千人、摩西謂利未人曰、爾能不顧己之子女兄弟、今日必得奉事主之職、並蒙主今日賜福於爾、○

人就我、若不愛我、勝於愛其父母、妻子、兄弟、姊妹、與己之生命、不得為我徒、

答告者曰、孰為我之母、孰為我之兄弟、

故此後我不以外貌認人、雖曾以外貌認基督、今後不復如此認之、

愛父母過於愛我者、不堪為我徒、愛子女過於愛我者、不堪為我徒、

我今求為人所許乎、或求為天主所許乎、抑求悅於人乎、我若求悅人、則不為天主之僕矣、○

毋近死者、即父母之屍、亦毋近而蒙不潔、

利亞懷孕生子、名之曰流便、流便譯即蒙眷得子之義蓋言主眷顧我苦、今而後、夫必愛我、

彼眾曰、我儕不如設謀、坑害耶利米、攻之以詞、勿聽其所言、蓋祭司非失律法、智者非缺謀略、先知非無預言、

天主既允我儕受福音之任、則我儕如是而言、不求悅於人、乃求悅於鑒察我心之天主、

摩西謂亞倫及其二子以利亞撒以他瑪曰、毋露首、毋裂衣、恐爾死亡、且恐主怒及會眾、惟爾兄弟、即以色列全家、可因主所焚死者而哀哭、

故人敬畏之、凡自以為智者、亦不足為有識、亦不足為有識或作天主不顧視

我在天主及主耶穌基督並被選之天使前、命爾守此言、勿執成見、凡事勿偏視、
