He said of his father and mother,‘ I have no regard for them.’ He did not recognize his brothers or acknowledge his own children, but he watched over your word and guarded your covenant.

Levi didn’t show special favor to anyone. He did not spare his father and mother. He didn’t excuse his relatives or his children. But he watched over your word. He guarded your covenant.

The Levites obeyed your word and guarded your covenant. They were more loyal to you than to their own parents. They ignored their relatives and did not acknowledge their own children.

He walked with me in peace and uprightness, and he turned many from iniquity.For the lips of a priest should guard knowledge, and people should seek instruction from his mouth, for he is the messenger of the Lord of hosts.

And when Moses saw that the people had broken loose( for Aaron had let them break loose, to the derision of their enemies),then Moses stood in the gate of the camp and said,“ Who is on the Lord’s side? Come to me.” And all the sons of Levi gathered around him.And he said to them,“ Thus says the Lord God of Israel,‘ Put your sword on your side each of you, and go to and fro from gate to gate throughout the camp, and each of you kill his brother and his companion and his neighbor.’”And the sons of Levi did according to the word of Moses. And that day about three thousand men of the people fell.And Moses said,“ Today you have been ordained for the service of the Lord, each one at the cost of his son and of his brother, so that he might bestow a blessing upon you this day.”

“ If anyone comes to me and does not hate his own father and mother and wife and children and brothers and sisters, yes, and even his own life, he cannot be my disciple.

But he replied to the man who told him,“ Who is my mother, and who are my brothers?”

From now on, therefore, we regard no one according to the flesh. Even though we once regarded Christ according to the flesh, we regard him thus no longer.

Whoever loves father or mother more than me is not worthy of me, and whoever loves son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me.

For am I now seeking the approval of man, or of God? Or am I trying to please man? If I were still trying to please man, I would not be a servant of Christ.

He shall not go in to any dead bodies nor make himself unclean, even for his father or for his mother.

And Leah conceived and bore a son, and she called his name Reuben, for she said,“ Because the Lord has looked upon my affliction; for now my husband will love me.”

but just as we have been approved by God to be entrusted with the gospel, so we speak, not to please man, but to please God who tests our hearts.

And Moses said to Aaron and to Eleazar and Ithamar his sons,“ Do not let the hair of your heads hang loose, and do not tear your clothes, lest you die, and wrath come upon all the congregation; but let your brothers, the whole house of Israel, bewail the burning that the Lord has kindled.

Therefore men fear him; he does not regard any who are wise in their own conceit.”

In the presence of God and of Christ Jesus and of the elect angels I charge you to keep these rules without prejudging, doing nothing from partiality.
