Moses said this about the tribe of Levi:“ O Lord, you have given your Thummim and Urim— the sacred lots— to your faithful servants the Levites. You put them to the test at Massah and struggled with them at the waters of Meribah.

Of Levi he said,“ Let Your Thummim and Your Urim belong to Your godly man, Whom You tested at Massah, With whom You contended at the waters of Meribah;

About Levi he said,“ Your Thummim and your Urim are with your godly one, whom you proved at Massah, with whom you contended at the waters of Meribah.

He named the place Massah and Meribah because the Israelites complained, and because they tested the LORD, saying,“ Is the LORD among us or not?”

Place the Urim and Thummim in the breastpiece for decisions, so that they will also be over Aaron’s heart whenever he comes before the LORD. Aaron will continually carry the means of decisions for the Israelites over his heart before the LORD.

These are the Waters of Meribah, where the Israelites quarreled with the LORD, and he demonstrated his holiness to them.

Then he put the breastpiece on him and placed the Urim and Thummim into the breastpiece.

In the camp they were envious of Moses and of Aaron, the LORD’s holy one.

He will stand before the priest Eleazar who will consult the LORD for him with the decision of the Urim. He and all the Israelites with him, even the entire community, will go out and come back in at his command.”

The governor ordered them not to eat the most holy things until there was a priest who could consult the Urim and Thummim.

No one is to enter the LORD’s temple but the priests and those Levites who serve; they may enter because they are holy, but all the people are to obey the requirement of the LORD.

He inquired of the LORD, but the LORD did not answer him in dreams or by the Urim or by the prophets.

They are not to marry a woman defiled by prostitution. They are not to marry one divorced by her husband, for the priest is holy to his God.

For this is the kind of high priest we need: holy, innocent, undefiled, separated from sinners, and exalted above the heavens.

“ You are to make a pure gold medallion and engrave it, like the engraving of a seal: HOLY TO THE LORD.

The governor ordered them not to eat the most holy things until there was a priest who could consult the Urim and Thummim.

For you will not abandon me to Sheol; you will not allow your faithful one to see decay.

You called out in distress, and I rescued you; I answered you from the thundercloud. I tested you at the Waters of Meribah. Selah

“ Write to the angel of the church in Philadelphia: Thus says the Holy One, the true one, the one who has the key of David, who opens and no one will close, and who closes and no one opens:

Then I said to them,“ You are holy to the LORD, and the articles are holy. The silver and gold are a freewill offering to the LORD God of your ancestors.

Then he said to Korah and all his followers,“ Tomorrow morning the LORD will reveal who belongs to him, who is set apart, and the one he will let come near him. He will let the one he chooses come near him.

He fed you in the wilderness with manna, which your ancestors had not known, in order to humble and test you, so that in the end he might cause you to prosper.

Remember that the LORD your God led you on the entire journey these forty years in the wilderness, so that he might humble you and test you to know what was in your heart, whether or not you would keep his commands.He humbled you by letting you go hungry; then he gave you manna to eat, which you and your ancestors had not known, so that you might learn that man does not live on bread alone but on every word that comes from the mouth of the LORD.
