Here’s what Moses said about Dan.“ Dan is like a lion’s cub that charges out of the land of Bashan.”

About Dan he said:“ Dan is a lion’s cub, springing out of Bashan.”

And of Dan he said,“ Dan is a lion’s cub that leaps from Bashan.”

Moses said this about the tribe of Dan:“ Dan is a lion’s cub, leaping out from Bashan.”

He said about Dan: Dan is a young lion, leaping out of Bashan.

Of Dan he said,“ Dan is a lion’s cub; He leaps out from Bashan.”

And of Dan he said:“ Dan is a lion’s whelp; He shall leap from Bashan.”

And of Dan he said, Dan is a lion’s whelp, That leapeth forth from Bashan.

He said about Dan: Dan is a young lion, leaping out of Bashan.

And of Dan he said, Dan[ is] a lion’s whelp: he shall leap from Bashan.

Of Dan he said: Dan is a lion’s cub; he will leap forth from Bashan.

About Dan he said,“ Dan is a lion’s cub that leaps out of Bashan.”

The people of Dan lost their territory. So they went up and attacked Leshem. They captured it. They killed its people with their swords. Then they moved into Leshem and made their homes there. They named it Dan. That’s because they traced their family line back to him.

The people of Dan took what Micah had made. They also took his priest. They continued on their way to Laish. They went there to fight against a people who were at peace and secure. The people of Dan struck them down with their swords. They burned down their city.

Samson said,“ Let me die together with the Philistines!” Then he pushed with all his might. The temple came down on the rulers. It fell on all the people in it. So Samson killed many more Philistines when he died than he did while he lived.

He found a fresh jawbone of a donkey. He grabbed it and struck down 1,000 men.

A certain man from Zorah was named Manoah. He was from the tribe of Dan. Manoah had a wife who wasn’t able to have children.

“ Dan will do what is fair for his people. He will do it as one of the tribes of Israel.Dan will be a snake by the side of the road. He will be a poisonous snake along the path. It bites the horse’s heels so that the rider falls off backward.

The men from Dan were ready for battle. The total number of them was 28,600.

Later, the woman had a baby boy. She named him Samson. As he grew up, the Lord blessed him.The Spirit of the Lord began to work in his life. It happened while he was in Mahaneh Dan. That place is between Zorah and Eshtaol.

Then the Spirit of the Lord came powerfully on Samson. He went down to Ashkelon. He struck down 30 of their men. He took everything they had with them. And he gave their clothes to those who had explained the riddle. Samson was very angry as he returned to his father’s home.

Then the Spirit of the Lord came powerfully on Samson. So he tore the lion apart with his bare hands. He did it as easily as he might have torn a young goat apart. But he didn’t tell his father or mother what he had done.

He struck them down with heavy blows. He killed many of them. Then he went down and stayed in a cave. It was in the rock of Etam.
