And of Gad he said,“ Blessed be he who enlarges Gad! Gad crouches like a lion; he tears off arm and scalp.

Moses said this about the tribe of Gad:“ Blessed is the one who enlarges Gad’s territory! Gad is poised there like a lion to tear off an arm or a head.

He said about Gad: The one who enlarges Gad’s territory will be blessed. He lies down like a lion and tears off an arm or even a head.

Of Gad he said,“ Blessed is the one who enlarges Gad; He lies down as a lion, And tears the arm, also the crown of the head.

And of Gad he said:“ Blessed is he who enlarges Gad; He dwells as a lion, And tears the arm and the crown of his head.

And of Gad he said, Blessed be he that enlargeth Gad: He dwelleth as a lioness, And teareth the arm, yea, the crown of the head.

He said about Gad: The one who enlarges Gad’s territory will be blessed. He lies down like a lion and tears off an arm or even a head.

About Gad he said,“ He who enlarges Gad is blessed. He dwells as a lioness, and tears the arm and the crown of the head.

Gad will be raided by marauding bands, but he will attack them at their heels.

The other half of Manasseh, Reuben, and Gad received their allotted tribal lands beyond the Jordan, just as Moses, the LORD’s servant, had assigned them.

Moses assigned land to the tribe of Gad by its clans.Their territory included Jazer, all the cities of Gilead, and half of Ammonite territory as far as Aroer near Rabbah.Their territory ran from Heshbon to Ramath Mizpah and Betonim, and from Mahanaim to the territory of Debir.It included the valley of Beth Haram, Beth Nimrah, Succoth, and Zaphon, and the rest of the realm of King Sihon of Heshbon, the area east of the Jordan to the end of the Sea of Kinnereth.The land allotted to the tribe of Gad by its clans included these cities and their towns.

Those survivors from Jacob will live among the nations, in the midst of many peoples. They will be like a lion among the animals of the forest, like a young lion among the flocks of sheep, which attacks when it passes through; it rips its prey and there is no one to stop it.

From the other side of the Jordan, from Reuben, Gad, and the half tribe of Manasseh, there were 120,000 men armed with all kinds of weapons.All these men were warriors who were ready to march. They came to Hebron to make David king over all Israel by acclamation; all the rest of the Israelites also were in agreement that David should become king.

He brought me out into a wide open place; he delivered me because he was pleased with me.

Jabez called out to the God of Israel,“ If only you would greatly bless me and expand my territory! May your hand be with me! Keep me from harm so I might not endure pain!” God answered his prayer.

Some of the Gadites joined David at the stronghold in the desert. They were warriors who were trained for battle; they carried shields and spears. They were as fierce as lions and could run as quickly as gazelles across the hills.Ezer was the leader, Obadiah the second in command, Eliab the third,Mishmannah the fourth, Jeremiah the fifth,Attai the sixth, Eliel the seventh,Johanan the eighth, Elzabad the ninth,Jeremiah the tenth, and Machbannai the eleventh.These Gadites were military leaders; the least led a hundred men, the greatest a thousand.

The Reubenites, Gadites, and the half-tribe of Manasseh had 44,760 men in their combined armies, warriors who carried shields and swords, were equipped with bows, and were trained for war.They attacked the Hagrites, Jetur, Naphish, and Nodab.They received divine help in fighting them, and the Hagrites and all their allies were handed over to them. They cried out to God during the battle; he responded to their prayers because they trusted in him.They seized the Hagrites’ animals, including 50,000 camels, 250,000 sheep, and 2,000 donkeys. They also took captive 100,000 people.
