It is mine to avenge; I will repay. In due time their foot will slip; their day of disaster is near and their doom rushes upon them.”

I punish people. I will pay them back. The time will come when their feet will slip. Their day of trouble is near. Very soon they will be destroyed.”

And through covetousness shall they with feigned words make merchandise of you: whose judgment now of a long time lingereth not, and their damnation slumbereth not.

Until I went into the sanctuary of God;[ then] understood I their end.Surely thou didst set them in slippery places: thou castedst them down into destruction.How are they[ brought] into desolation, as in a moment! they are utterly consumed with terrors.

But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day[ is] with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up.

Who can stand before his indignation? and who can abide in the fierceness of his anger? his fury is poured out like fire, and the rocks are thrown down by him.

That say, Let him make speed,[ and] hasten his work, that we may see[ it]: and let the counsel of the Holy One of Israel draw nigh and come, that we may know[ it]!

Give glory to the LORD your God, before he cause darkness, and before your feet stumble upon the dark mountains, and, while ye look for light, he turn it into the shadow of death,[ and] make[ it] gross darkness.

Now will I shortly pour out my fury upon thee, and accomplish mine anger upon thee: and I will judge thee according to thy ways, and will recompense thee for all thine abominations.And mine eye shall not spare, neither will I have pity: I will recompense thee according to thy ways and thine abominations[ that] are in the midst of thee; and ye shall know that I[ am] the LORD that smiteth.

And many among them shall stumble, and fall, and be broken, and be snared, and be taken.

Wherefore thus saith the Holy One of Israel, Because ye despise this word, and trust in oppression and perverseness, and stay thereon:Therefore this iniquity shall be to you as a breach ready to fall, swelling out in a high wall, whose breaking cometh suddenly at an instant.

For the vision[ is] yet for an appointed time, but at the end it shall speak, and not lie: though it tarry, wait for it; because it will surely come, it will not tarry.

Rejoice, O ye nations,[ with] his people: for he will avenge the blood of his servants, and will render vengeance to his adversaries, and will be merciful unto his land,[ and] to his people.

And shall not God avenge his own elect, which cry day and night unto him, though he bear long with them?I tell you that he will avenge them speedily. Nevertheless when the Son of man cometh, shall he find faith on the earth?

Wherefore their way shall be unto them as slippery[ ways] in the darkness: they shall be driven on, and fall therein: for I will bring evil upon them,[ even] the year of their visitation, saith the LORD.

A little one shall become a thousand, and a small one a strong nation: I the LORD will hasten it in his time.

And a stone of stumbling, and a rock of offence,[ even to them] which stumble at the word, being disobedient: whereunto also they were appointed.

O LORD God, to whom vengeance belongeth; O God, to whom vengeance belongeth, shew thyself.

For he is the minister of God to thee for good. But if thou do that which is evil, be afraid; for he beareth not the sword in vain: for he is the minister of God, a revenger to[ execute] wrath upon him that doeth evil.

Therefore thus saith the LORD, Behold, I will lay stumblingblocks before this people, and the fathers and the sons together shall fall upon them; the neighbour and his friend shall perish.

The way of the wicked[ is] as darkness: they know not at what they stumble.
