In the street the sword will make them childless; in their homes terror will reign. The young men and young women will perish, the infants and those with gray hair.

In the streets their children will be killed by swords. Their homes will be filled with terror. The young men and women will die. The babies and old people will die.

Outdoors the sword shall bereave, and indoors terror, for young man and woman alike, the nursing child with the man of gray hairs.

Outside, the sword will bring death, and inside, terror will strike both young men and young women, both infants and the aged.

Outside, the sword will take their children, and inside, there will be terror; the young man and the young woman will be killed, the infant and the gray-haired man.

在外有刀劍；在內有瘟疫、饑荒。在田野的，必遭刀劍而死；在城中的，必有饑荒、瘟疫吞滅他。

耶和華啊，求你觀看，因為我在急難中。我心腸擾亂；我心在我裏面翻轉，因我大大悖逆。在外，刀劍使人喪子；在家，猶如死亡。

所以，耶和華使迦勒底人的王來攻擊他們，在他們聖殿裏用刀殺了他們的壯丁，不憐恤他們的少男處女、老人白叟。耶和華將他們都交在迦勒底王手裏。

你們卻說：不然，我們要騎馬奔走。所以你們必然奔走；又說：我們要騎飛快的牲口。所以追趕你們的，也必飛快。

因為死亡上來，進了我們的窗戶，入了我們的宮殿；要從外邊剪除孩童，從街上剪除少年人。

我們從前就是到了馬其頓的時候，身體也不得安寧，周圍遭患難，外有爭戰，內有懼怕。

至於你們剩下的人，我要使他們在仇敵之地心驚膽怯。葉子被風吹的響聲，要追趕他們；他們要逃避，像人逃避刀劍，無人追趕，卻要跌倒。無人追趕，他們要彼此撞跌，像在刀劍之前。你們在仇敵面前也必站立不住。

吃奶孩子的舌頭因乾渴貼住上膛；孩童求餅，無人擘給他們。

夜間，每逢交更的時候要起來呼喊，在主面前傾心如水。你的孩童在各市口上受餓發昏；你要為他們的性命向主舉手禱告。耶和華啊，求你觀看！見你向誰這樣行？婦人豈可吃自己所生育手裏所搖弄的嬰孩嗎？祭司和先知豈可在主的聖所中被殺戮嗎？少年人和老年人都在街上躺臥；我的處女和壯丁都倒在刀下；你發怒的日子殺死他們。你殺了，並不顧惜。你招聚四圍驚嚇我的，像在大會的日子招聚人一樣。耶和華發怒的日子，無人逃脫，無人存留。我所搖弄所養育的嬰孩，仇敵都殺淨了。
