In a desert land he found him, in a barren and howling waste. He shielded him and cared for him; he guarded him as the apple of his eye,

万军之耶和华说，祂在彰显荣耀之后要差遣我去那些掳掠你们的国家，因为谁侵害你们，就是侵害祂的瞳仁。

求你保护我，像保护眼中的瞳仁，用你的翅膀荫庇我，

他们从不自问，‘耶和华曾把我们带出埃及，引导我们走过沙漠纵横、深坑满布、干旱幽暗、杳无人迹的旷野，祂如今在哪里呢？’

遵守我的诫命，你便存活。要爱护我的训言，如爱护眼中的瞳仁。

我曾在干旱的旷野照顾你们，

你是我的藏身之所，你保护我免遭危难，用得胜的凯歌四面环绕我。（细拉）耶和华说：“我要教导你，引领你走正路；我要劝导你，看顾你。不要像无知的骡马，不用嚼环辔头就不驯服。”恶人必多遭祸患，耶和华的慈爱必环绕信靠祂的人。

带领你们走过干旱、可怕、毒蛇和蝎子出没的大旷野。祂使坚硬的磐石流出水来给你们喝，在旷野中把你们祖先从未见过的吗哪赐给你们吃，为要磨炼你们、考验你们，使你们最终得到益处。

你受过律法的教导，知道上帝的旨意，能明辨是非；

你还是对他们大施怜悯，没有在旷野离弃他们。白天，云柱没有离开他们，仍然引导他们前行；夜间，火柱仍然照亮他们当走的路。你差遣你良善的灵去教导他们，没有停止赐他们吗哪吃，也没有停止赐他们水喝。在旷野的四十年间，你供养他们，使他们一无所缺，他们的衣服没有穿破，脚也没有走肿。

那从旷野上来、靠在良人身旁的是谁呢？我在苹果树下唤醒你，你母亲在那里怀你养你，为你受生产之苦。

祂将自己的话传于雅各，将自己的律例和法令指示以色列。祂未曾这样对待其他国家，他们不知道祂的律法。你们要赞美耶和华！

祂让你们听见祂从天上来的声音，好教导你们，又在地上让你们看见祂的烈火，并听见祂在烈火中说的话。

他们在旷野中飘泊，居无定所，又饥又渴，陷入绝境。

其实益处非常多！首先，上帝的圣言托付给了犹太人。
