說：『先生，摩西曾對我們寫着說：『一個人的哥哥若死了，留有妻子，這哥哥又是沒有孩子的，他弟弟該娶他的妻子，為他哥哥樹立後裔。」好，

以色列眾長老來到了，祭司們便將約櫃抬起來。

人民離開帳棚往前行、要過約但河的時候，抬約櫃的祭司在人民前面。原來約但河水在收割的日子總是漲滿河岸的。當下抬櫃的人來到約但河；抬櫃的祭司的腳一蘸在水邊，那從上邊往下流的水便從極遠之處、在亞當、在撒拉但旁邊的城那裏站住，立成了一壘，而那向亞拉巴海、就是鹽海、往下流的水便全然截斷；於是人民就在耶利哥對面過去了。抬永恆主約櫃的祭司在約但河中間的乾地上直站着，等以色列眾人都在乾地上過去，直到全國的人盡都過了約但河為止。

當那一天摩西就寫了以下這首歌，教導以色列人。永恆主授職與嫩的兒子約書亞說：『你要剛強壯膽，因為是你要領以色列人進我向他們起誓應許的地，是我要和你同在。』摩西將「這律法」的話在書上寫完了；寫到儘末了，摩西就吩咐抬永恆主約櫃的利未人說：『你們要將「這律法」書放在永恆主你們的上帝的約櫃旁，好讓它在那裏做見證指責你們的不對。

這一切災禍都照摩西律法書上所寫的臨到我們身上了，而我們卻沒有求永恆主我們的上帝的情面，而使我們回頭離開我們的罪孽，而留心於你的真理。

那時大衛說：『上帝的櫃、除了利未人之外、沒有人可以抬；因為永恆主所揀選來抬永恆主的櫃、並永遠伺候他的、乃是他們。』

我的人民因無知識而被毁滅；你、你既棄絕了知識，我也必棄絕你、不讓你做我的祭司。你既忘了你的上帝的禮節規矩，我、我也必忘了你的兒女。

你們要把你們族派中的眾長老和官吏都召集來到我面前，我好把這些話都講給他們聽，並且呼天喚地來警告他們。

他們說：『摩西是准人寫離婚書去離婚的。』耶穌對他們說：『是為着你們的硬心摩西才寫了這條誡命給你們的。

對他們說：『你們是利未人父系的首長；你們和你們的族弟兄都應當潔淨自己為聖，好將以色列之上帝、永恆主的櫃、接上來到我所給豫備的地方。因為你們先前沒有這樣作過；永恆主我們的上帝便突擊了我們，因為我們沒有按規矩尋問他。』於是祭司和利未人就潔淨自己為聖，好將以色列之上帝、永恆主的櫃、接上來。利未子孫就抬上帝的櫃、照永恆主的話、按摩西所吩咐的、用肩膀使杠子來抬。
