The Lord your God himself will cross over ahead of you. He will destroy these nations before you, and you will take possession of their land. Joshua also will cross over ahead of you, as the Lord said.

但今天你们要知道，你们的上帝耶和华要走在你们前面，像烈火一样吞噬他们。祂要制服他们，使你们迅速赶走他们，毁灭他们，正如祂对你们的应许。

你要委任约书亚，勉励他，支持他，因为他必带领以色列人过河，占领你眺望的那片土地。’

那一天，耶和华使约书亚在以色列众人面前受尊重，他像摩西一样终生受民众敬畏。

“我的仆人摩西已经死了，现在你和全体以色列人要准备渡过约旦河，到我要赐给你们的地方去。

耶和华嘱咐嫩的儿子约书亚：“你要刚强勇敢，因为你要带领以色列人进入我起誓应许他们的土地，我必与你同在。”

如果当初约书亚已经让他们得到了安息，上帝就不必另定一个日子了。

你们不要倚靠权贵，不要倚靠世人，他们救不了你们。他们气息一断，便归回尘土，他们的打算转眼成空。蒙雅各的上帝相助、仰望上帝耶和华的人有福了！耶和华创造了天、地、海和其中的万物，祂永远信实可靠。

你亲手赶出外族，把我们的祖先安置在那里；你击溃列邦，使我们的祖先兴旺发达。他们不是靠自己的刀剑征服那里，不是靠自己的臂膀得胜，而是靠你的权能、力量和恩惠，因为你爱他们。

后来我们的祖先承受了圣幕。上帝从我们祖先面前赶走外族人，使他们得到了应许之地。他们同约书亚把圣幕带到那里，一直到大卫的时代。

耶和华对摩西说：“嫩的儿子约书亚心里有圣灵，你把他召来，按手在他身上，让他站在以利亚撒祭司和全体会众面前，当着他们的面任命他做首领，把你的权柄赐给他，使以色列全体会众都听从他。遇到事情，他要去以利亚撒祭司那里，让祭司借着乌陵为他求问我。他和全体会众或进或出都要听从以利亚撒的指示。”

耶和华对摩西说：“你快要离世了。叫约书亚与你一起到会幕，我要委派他。”摩西和约书亚就去了会幕。

摩西把约书亚叫来，当着全体以色列人的面对他说：“你要刚强勇敢！因为你要带领百姓进入耶和华起誓赐给他们祖先的土地，把土地分给他们。耶和华必带领你，与你同在。祂不会撇下你，也不会离弃你。不要害怕，也不要沮丧。”

嫩的儿子约书亚充满了智慧之灵，因为摩西曾把手按在他身上。以色列人都听从他，遵守耶和华对摩西的吩咐。

耶和华对约书亚说：“从今天开始，我要使你在以色列人面前得到尊荣，让他们知道我与你同在，正如从前我跟摩西同在一样。

以色列对约瑟说：“我快死了，但上帝必与你们同在，带你们回到你们祖先的土地。
