then the Lord your God will restore your fortunes and have compassion on you and gather you again from all the nations where he scattered you.

When all that happens, the Lord your God will bless you with great success again. He will be very kind to you. He’ll bring you back from all the nations where he scattered you.

The Lord builds up Jerusalem; he gathers the exiles of Israel.

“‘ For I will take you out of the nations; I will gather you from all the countries and bring you back into your own land.

Though he brings grief, he will show compassion, so great is his unfailing love.

As a shepherd looks after his scattered flock when he is with them, so will I look after my sheep. I will rescue them from all the places where they were scattered on a day of clouds and darkness.I will bring them out from the nations and gather them from the countries, and I will bring them into their own land. I will pasture them on the mountains of Israel, in the ravines and in all the settlements in the land.

so they too have now become disobedient in order that they too may now receive mercy as a result of God’s mercy to you.

for their sake he remembered his covenant and out of his great love he relented.He caused all who held them captive to show them mercy.Save us, Lord our God, and gather us from the nations, that we may give thanks to your holy name and glory in your praise.

This is what the Lord Almighty says:“ I will save my people from the countries of the east and the west.I will bring them back to live in Jerusalem; they will be my people, and I will be faithful and righteous to them as their God.”

Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail.

“ Hear the word of the Lord, you nations; proclaim it in distant coastlands:‘ He who scattered Israel will gather them and will watch over his flock like a shepherd.’

And if they do not persist in unbelief, they will be grafted in, for God is able to graft them in again.

I will surely gather them from all the lands where I banish them in my furious anger and great wrath; I will bring them back to this place and let them live in safety.They will be my people, and I will be their God.I will give them singleness of heart and action, so that they will always fear me and that all will then go well for them and for their children after them.I will make an everlasting covenant with them: I will never stop doing good to them, and I will inspire them to fear me, so that they will never turn away from me.I will rejoice in doing them good and will assuredly plant them in this land with all my heart and soul.“ This is what the Lord says: As I have brought all this great calamity on this people, so I will give them all the prosperity I have promised them.Once more fields will be bought in this land of which you say,‘ It is a desolate waste, without people or animals, for it has been given into the hands of the Babylonians.’Fields will be bought for silver, and deeds will be signed, sealed and witnessed in the territory of Benjamin, in the villages around Jerusalem, in the towns of Judah and in the towns of the hill country, of the western foothills and of the Negev, because I will restore their fortunes, declares the Lord.”

and in this way all Israel will be saved. As it is written:“ The deliverer will come from Zion; he will turn godlessness away from Jacob.

When the Lord restored the fortunes of Zion, we were like those who dreamed.Our mouths were filled with laughter, our tongues with songs of joy. Then it was said among the nations,“ The Lord has done great things for them.”The Lord has done great things for us, and we are filled with joy.Restore our fortunes, Lord, like streams in the Negev.

In the first year of Cyrus king of Persia, in order to fulfill the word of the Lord spoken by Jeremiah, the Lord moved the heart of Cyrus king of Persia to make a proclamation throughout his realm and also to put it in writing:“ This is what Cyrus king of Persia says:“‘ The Lord, the God of heaven, has given me all the kingdoms of the earth and he has appointed me to build a temple for him at Jerusalem in Judah.Any of his people among you may go up to Jerusalem in Judah and build the temple of the Lord, the God of Israel, the God who is in Jerusalem, and may their God be with them.And in any locality where survivors may now be living, the people are to provide them with silver and gold, with goods and livestock, and with freewill offerings for the temple of God in Jerusalem.’”

The Sovereign Lord declares— he who gathers the exiles of Israel:“ I will gather still others to them besides those already gathered.”
