This day I call the heavens and the earth as witnesses against you that I have set before you life and death, blessings and curses. Now choose life, so that you and your children may live

I’m calling for the heavens and the earth to be witnesses against you this very day. I’m offering you the choice of life or death. You can choose either blessings or curses. But I want you to choose life. Then you and your children will live.

I call heaven and earth to witness against you today, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and curse. Therefore choose life, that you and your offspring may live,

“ When all these things happen to you— the blessings and curses I have set before you— and you come to your senses while you are in all the nations where the LORD your God has driven you,

I have chosen the way of truth; I have set your ordinances before me.

But if it doesn’t please you to worship the LORD, choose for yourselves today: Which will you worship— the gods your ancestors worshiped beyond the Euphrates River or the gods of the Amorites in whose land you are living? As for me and my family, we will worship the LORD.”The people replied,“ We will certainly not abandon the LORD to worship other gods!For the LORD our God brought us and our ancestors out of the land of Egypt, out of the place of slavery, and performed these great signs before our eyes. He also protected us all along the way we went and among all the peoples whose lands we traveled through.The LORD drove out before us all the peoples, including the Amorites who lived in the land. We too will worship the LORD, because he is our God.”But Joshua told the people,“ You will not be able to worship the LORD, because he is a holy God. He is a jealous God; he will not forgive your transgressions and sins.If you abandon the LORD and worship foreign gods, he will turn against you, harm you, and completely destroy you, after he has been good to you.”“ No!” the people answered Joshua.“ We will worship the LORD.”Joshua then told the people,“ You are witnesses against yourselves that you yourselves have chosen to worship the LORD.”“ We are witnesses,” they said.

but one thing is necessary. Mary has made the right choice, and it will not be taken away from her.”

I call heaven and earth as witnesses against you today that you will quickly perish from the land you are about to cross the Jordan to possess. You will not live long there, but you will certainly be destroyed.

I solemnly charge you before God and Christ Jesus and the elect angels to observe these things without prejudice, doing nothing out of favoritism.

Now listen to what the LORD is saying: Rise, plead your case before the mountains, and let the hills hear your complaint.Listen to the LORD’s lawsuit, you mountains and enduring foundations of the earth, because the LORD has a case against his people, and he will argue it against Israel.

I will give them integrity of heart and action so that they will fear me always, for their good and for the good of their descendants after them.

Assemble all your tribal elders and officers before me so that I may speak these words directly to them and call heaven and earth as witnesses against them.

I have your decrees as a heritage forever; indeed, they are the joy of my heart.

For the promise is for you and for your children, and for all who are far off, as many as the Lord our God will call.”

Pay attention, heavens, and I will speak; listen, earth, to the words from my mouth.

May your hand be ready to help me, for I have chosen your precepts.

Be appalled at this, heavens; be shocked and utterly desolated! This is the LORD’s declaration.For my people have committed a double evil: They have abandoned me, the fountain of living water, and dug cisterns for themselves— cracked cisterns that cannot hold water.

Listen, heavens, and pay attention, earth, for the LORD has spoken:“ I have raised children and brought them up, but they have rebelled against me.

Earth, earth, earth, hear the word of the LORD!This is what the LORD says: Record this man as childless, a man who will not be successful in his lifetime. None of his descendants will succeed in sitting on the throne of David or ruling again in Judah.

Because they hated knowledge, didn’t choose to fear the LORD,

For the LORD says this:“ For the eunuchs who keep my Sabbaths, and choose what pleases me, and hold firmly to my covenant,
