但这些国民的城，耶和华你神既赐你为业，其中凡有气息的，一个不可存留；只要照耶和华你神所吩咐的将这赫人、亚摩利人、迦南人、比利洗人、希未人、耶布斯人都灭绝净尽，免得他们教导你们学习一切可憎恶的事，就是他们向自己神所行的，以致你们得罪耶和华你们的神。

以色列人向耶和华发愿说：“你若将这民交付我手，我就把他们的城邑尽行毁灭。”

耶和华对我说：‘不要怕他！因我已将他和他的众民，并他的地，都交在你手中；你要待他像从前待住希实本的亚摩利王西宏一样。’

那些城邑所有的财物和牲畜，以色列人都取为自己的掠物；惟有一切人口都用刀击杀，直到杀尽；凡有气息的没有留下一个。

就是杀戮亚摩利王西宏，因他的慈爱永远长存；又杀巴珊王噩，因他的慈爱永远长存。他将他们的地赐他的百姓为业，因他的慈爱永远长存；

“但一切永献的，就是人从他所有永献给耶和华的，无论是人，是牲畜，是他承受为业的地，都不可卖，也不可赎。凡永献的是归给耶和华为至圣。凡从人中当灭的都不可赎，必被治死。”
