耶和華說，『起來穿過亞嫩谷，我已將亞摩利人希實本王西宏和他的土地交在你手中，你要攻打他，佔領他的土地。

你們的上帝耶和華將把你們附近各族的城邑賜給你們，你們要將裡面有氣息的全部消滅。要遵照你們的上帝耶和華的吩咐，徹底滅絕赫人、亞摩利人、迦南人、比利洗人、希未人和耶布斯人，免得他們將祭拜自己神明的可憎習俗傳給你們，以致你們得罪你們的上帝耶和華。

以色列人向耶和華許願說：「要是你將這些人交在我們手中，我們必徹底摧毀他們的城邑。」

耶和華對我說，『不要怕他，因為我已把他及其眾民和土地交在你手中，你要像從前對付希實本的亞摩利王西宏一樣對付他。』

他們殺掉城內所有的居民，一個沒留，擄掠了城內所有的財物和牲畜。

祂擊殺了亞摩利王西宏，因為祂的慈愛永遠長存。祂擊殺了巴珊王噩，因為祂的慈愛永遠長存。祂把他們的土地賜給祂的子民作產業，因為祂的慈愛永遠長存。

凡永遠獻上的，不論是人、牲畜或是田產，都不可賣掉，也不可贖回，因為這一切都屬於耶和華，是至聖的。凡永遠獻上的人不可被贖回，必須被處死。
