So appoint Joshua as the new leader. Help him to be brave. Give him hope and strength. He will take these people across the Jordan. You will see the land. But he will lead them into it to take it as their own.”

It is the Lord your God who is going to cross ahead of you; He Himself will destroy these nations before you, and you shall dispossess them. Joshua is the one who is going to cross ahead of you, just as the Lord has spoken.

Then Moses called to Joshua and said to him in the sight of all Israel,“ Be strong and courageous, for you will go with this people into the land which the Lord has sworn to their fathers to give them, and you will give it to them as an inheritance.

Joshua the son of Nun, who stands before you, shall himself enter there; encourage him, for he will give it to Israel as an inheritance.

Then He commissioned Joshua the son of Nun, and said,“ Be strong and courageous, for you will bring the sons of Israel into the land which I swore to them, and I will be with you.”

So the Lord said to Moses,“ Take Joshua the son of Nun, a man in whom is the Spirit, and lay your hand on him;and have him stand before Eleazar the priest and before all the congregation, and commission him in their sight.And you shall put some of your authority on him, so that all the congregation of the sons of Israel will obey him.Moreover, he shall stand before Eleazar the priest, who shall inquire for him by the judgment of the Urim before the Lord. At his command they shall go out, and at his command they shall come in, both he and all the sons of Israel with him, all the congregation.”Then Moses did just as the Lord commanded him; he took Joshua and had him stand before Eleazar the priest and before all the congregation.Then he laid his hands on him and commissioned him, just as the Lord had spoken through Moses.

Then David said to his son Solomon,“ Be strong and courageous, and act; do not fear nor be dismayed, for the Lord God, my God, is with you. He will not fail you nor forsake you until all the work for the service of the house of the Lord is finished.

For if Joshua had given them rest, He would not have spoken of another day after that.

I direct you in the presence of God, who gives life to all things, and of Christ Jesus, who testified the good confession before Pontius Pilate,that you keep the commandment without fault or reproach until the appearing of our Lord Jesus Christ,

Our fathers in turn received it, and they also brought it in with Joshua upon dispossessing the nations that God drove out from our fathers, until the time of David.

“ As for you, my son Solomon, know the God of your father, and serve Him wholeheartedly and with a willing mind; for the Lord searches all hearts, and understands every intent of the thoughts. If you seek Him, He will let you find Him; but if you forsake Him, He will reject you forever.Consider now, for the Lord has chosen you to build a house for the sanctuary; be courageous and act.”

You therefore, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus.The things which you have heard from me in the presence of many witnesses, entrust these to faithful people who will be able to teach others also.Suffer hardship with me, as a good soldier of Christ Jesus.

I solemnly exhort you in the presence of God and of Christ Jesus, who is to judge the living and the dead, and by His appearing and His kingdom:preach the word; be ready in season and out of season; correct, rebuke, and exhort, with great patience and instruction.For the time will come when they will not tolerate sound doctrine; but wanting to have their ears tickled, they will accumulate for themselves teachers in accordance with their own desires,and they will turn their ears away from the truth and will turn aside to myths.But as for you, use self restraint in all things, endure hardship, do the work of an evangelist, fulfill your ministry.For I am already being poured out as a drink offering, and the time of my departure has come.

Then he called for his son Solomon, and commanded him to build a house for the Lord God of Israel.

Now the Lord said to Joshua,“ This day I will begin to exalt you in the sight of all Israel, so that they will know that just as I have been with Moses, I will be with you.So you shall command the priests who are carrying the ark of the covenant, saying,‘ When you come to the edge of the waters of the Jordan, you shall stand still in the Jordan.’ ”Then Joshua said to the sons of Israel,“ Come here, and hear the words of the Lord your God.”And Joshua said,“ By this you will know that the living God is among you, and that He will assuredly drive out from you the Canaanite, the Hittite, the Hivite, the Perizzite, the Girgashite, the Amorite, and the Jebusite.Behold, the ark of the covenant of the Lord of all the earth is crossing over ahead of you into the Jordan.Now then, take for yourselves twelve men from the tribes of Israel, one man for each tribe.And it will come about when the soles of the feet of the priests who carry the ark of the Lord, the Lord of all the earth, rest in the waters of the Jordan, the waters of the Jordan will be cut off, that is, the waters which are flowing down from above; and they will stand in one heap.”So when the people set out from their tents to cross the Jordan, with the priests carrying the ark of the covenant before the people,and when those who were carrying the ark came up to the Jordan and the feet of the priests carrying the ark stepped down into the edge of the water( for the Jordan overflows all its banks all the days of harvest),then the waters which were flowing down from above stood and rose up in one heap, a great distance away at Adam, the city that is beside Zarethan; and those which were flowing down toward the sea of the Arabah, the Salt Sea, were completely cut off. So the people crossed opposite Jericho.And the priests who carried the ark of the covenant of the Lord stood firm on dry ground in the middle of the Jordan while all Israel crossed on dry ground, until all the nation had finished crossing the Jordan.

For the Law was given through Moses; grace and truth were realized through Jesus Christ.

“ Moses My servant is dead; so now arise, cross this Jordan, you and all this people, to the land which I am giving to them, to the sons of Israel.

Now, my son, the Lord be with you that you may be successful, and build the house of the Lord your God just as He has spoken concerning you.Only the Lord give you discretion and understanding, and put you in charge of Israel, so that you may keep the Law of the Lord your God.Then you will prosper, if you are careful to follow the statutes and the ordinances which the Lord commanded Moses concerning Israel. Be strong and courageous, do not fear nor be dismayed.Now behold, with great pains I have prepared for the house of the Lord a hundred thousand talents of gold and a million talents of silver, and bronze and iron beyond measure, for they are in great quantity; I have also prepared timber and stone, and you may add to that.Moreover there are many workmen with you, stonecutters, masons of stone, and carpenters; and all of them are skillful in every kind of work.Of the gold, silver, bronze, and iron there is no limit. Arise and work, and may the Lord be with you.”
