“ Then I commanded you at that time, saying,‘ The Lord your God has given you this land to possess it; all you valiant men shall cross over armed ahead of your brothers, the sons of Israel.

「那時我吩咐他們，『你們的上帝耶和華已經把這些地方賜給你們，但你們所有的戰士必須帶著兵器過河，做同胞的先鋒。

“那時，我吩咐你們：‘耶和華你們的神，已經把這地賜給你們作產業了；你們所有的戰士，都要預備好，在你們的兄弟以色列人面前過河去。

『那時我吩咐你們說：「永恆主你們的上帝已將這地賜給你們去取得它；你們一切有力氣的人都要武裝好，好在你們族弟兄以色列人前面過去。

時、我命爾曰、爾上帝耶和華、既以斯土錫爾為業、爾之勇士、必皆執兵、先爾兄弟以色列人而往、

當時我諭之曰、爾之上帝耶和華雖以斯土錫爾、然爾之軍旅必備以戰、先爾同儕以色列族而遄征、

當時我諭爾曹得斯地之人曰、主爾之天主、既以斯地賜爾為業、爾中所有戰士必執器械、在爾同族同族原文作兄弟以色列人前先往、

I commanded you at that time:“ The Lord your God has given you this land to take possession of it. But all your able- bodied men, armed for battle, must cross over ahead of the other Israelites.

Here is the command I gave at that time to the tribes of Reuben and Gad and half of the tribe of Manasseh. I said,“ The Lord your God has given you this land as your very own. But all your strong men must be prepared for battle. They must cross over ahead of the rest of the Israelites.

“ And I commanded you at that time, saying,‘ The Lord your God has given you this land to possess. All your men of valor shall cross over armed before your brothers, the people of Israel.

“ At that time I gave this command to the tribes that would live east of the Jordan:‘ Although the Lord your God has given you this land as your property, all your fighting men must cross the Jordan ahead of your Israelite relatives, armed and ready to assist them.

“ I commanded you at that time: The LORD your God has given you this land to possess. All your valiant men will cross over in battle formation ahead of your brothers the Israelites.

“ Then I commanded you at that time, saying:‘ The Lord your God has given you this land to possess. All you men of valor shall cross over armed before your brethren, the children of Israel.

And I commanded you at that time, saying, Jehovah your God hath given you this land to possess it: ye shall pass over armed before your brethren the children of Israel, all the men of valor.

“ I commanded you at that time: The Lord your God has given you this land to possess. All your fighting men will cross over in battle formation ahead of your brothers the Israelites.

And I commanded you at that time, saying, The LORD your God hath given you this land to possess it: ye shall pass over armed before your brethren the children of Israel, all[ that are] meet for the war.

At that time I instructed you as follows:“ The LORD your God has given you this land for your possession. You warriors are to cross over before your fellow Israelites equipped for battle.

I commanded you at that time, saying,“ Yahweh your God has given you this land to possess it. All of you men of valor shall pass over armed before your brothers, the children of Israel.

So Moses said to them,“ If you will do this, if you will arm yourselves before the Lord for the war,and all of you armed men cross over the Jordan before the Lord until He has driven His enemies out from Him,and the land is subdued before the Lord, then afterward you may return and be free of obligation toward the Lord and toward Israel, and this land shall be yours as property before the Lord.But if you do not do so, behold, you have sinned against the Lord, and be sure that your sin will find you out.Build yourselves cities for your little ones, and sheepfolds for your sheep, and do what you have promised.”

The sons of Reuben, the sons of Gad, and the half tribe of Manasseh crossed over in battle formation before the sons of Israel, just as Moses had spoken to them;about forty thousand equipped for war, crossed for battle before the Lord to the desert plains of Jericho.

Then Joshua summoned the Reubenites and the Gadites, and the half tribe of Manasseh,and said to them,“ You have kept all that Moses the servant of the Lord commanded you, and have listened to my voice in all that I commanded you.You have not abandoned your brothers these many days to this day, but have fulfilled the obligation of the commandment of the Lord your God.And now the Lord your God has given rest to your brothers, as He spoke to them; therefore turn now and go to your tents, to the land of your possession, which Moses the servant of the Lord gave you beyond the Jordan.Only be very careful to follow the commandment and the Law which Moses the servant of the Lord commanded you, to love the Lord your God and walk in all His ways, and keep His commandments and cling to Him, and serve Him with all your heart and with all your soul.”So Joshua blessed them and sent them away, and they went to their tents.Now to the one half tribe of Manasseh Moses had given a possession in Bashan, but to the other half Joshua gave a possession among their brothers westward beyond the Jordan. So when Joshua sent them away to their tents, he also blessed them,and said to them,“ Return to your tents with great riches and with very many livestock, with silver, gold, bronze, iron, and with very many clothes; divide the spoils of your enemies with your brothers.”So the sons of Reuben, the sons of Gad, and the half tribe of Manasseh returned home, leaving the sons of Israel at Shiloh, which is in the land of Canaan, to go to the land of Gilead, to the land of their possession in which they had settled, in accordance with the command of the Lord through Moses.

But to the Reubenites, to the Gadites, and to the half tribe of Manasseh, Joshua said,“ Remember the word which Moses the servant of the Lord commanded you, saying,‘ The Lord your God is giving you rest, and will give you this land.’Your wives, your little ones, and your livestock shall remain in the land which Moses gave you beyond the Jordan, but you shall cross ahead of your brothers in battle formation, all your valiant warriors, and shall help them,until the Lord gives your brothers rest, as He is giving you, and they also possess the land which the Lord your God is giving them. Then you may return to your own land, and take possession of that which Moses the servant of the Lord gave you beyond the Jordan toward the sunrise.”
