我同你們立約宣誓，是恐怕你們中間有人、或男人或女人、或家族或族派、今日心裏偏離了永恆主我們的上帝，去事奉那些國的神；又恐怕你們中間有惡根、結出毒菜和苦堇為果實來，

此約之立、以免爾中男女、宗族支派、今日中心違棄我上帝耶和華、往事斯族之神、致有荼毒之根、生於爾中、

爾中之男女、宗族支派、其心毋違我上帝耶和華、而奉事他邦之上帝、爾中之人、其毒毋太苦、如茵蔯之根、

如爾中或男或女、或宗族、或支派、今日心棄主我之天主、往事此諸邦之神、若有苦毒之根、生於爾中、

Make sure there is no man or woman, clan or tribe among you today whose heart turns away from the Lord our God to go and worship the gods of those nations; make sure there is no root among you that produces such bitter poison.

Make sure there isn’t a man or woman among your families or tribes who turns away from the Lord our God. No one must worship the gods of those nations. Make sure that kind of worship doesn’t spread like bitter poison through your whole community.

Beware lest there be among you a man or woman or clan or tribe whose heart is turning away today from the Lord our God to go and serve the gods of those nations. Beware lest there be among you a root bearing poisonous and bitter fruit,

I am making this covenant with you so that no one among you— no man, woman, clan, or tribe— will turn away from the Lord our God to worship these gods of other nations, and so that no root among you bears bitter and poisonous fruit.

Be sure there is no man, woman, clan, or tribe among you today whose heart turns away from the LORD our God to go and worship the gods of those nations. Be sure there is no root among you bearing poisonous and bitter fruit.

Beware that the heart of no man, woman, clan, or tribe among you turns away from the LORD our God today to pursue and serve the gods of those nations; beware that there is among you no root producing poisonous and bitter fruit.

lest there should be among you man, woman, family, or tribe whose heart turns away today from Yahweh our God, to go to serve the gods of those nations; lest there should be among you a root that produces bitter poison;

又要謹慎，恐怕有人失了神的恩；恐怕有毒根生出來擾亂你們，因此叫眾人沾染污穢；

你們要謹慎，免得心中受迷惑，就偏離正路，去事奉敬拜別神。耶和華的怒氣向你們發作，就使天閉塞不下雨，地也不出產，使你們在耶和華所賜給你們的美地上速速滅亡。

「你們中間若有先知或是做夢的起來，向你顯個神蹟奇事，對你說：『我們去隨從你素來所不認識的別神，事奉它吧。』他所顯的神蹟奇事雖有應驗，你也不可聽那先知或是那做夢之人的話；因為這是耶和華－你們的神試驗你們，要知道你們是盡心盡性愛耶和華－你們的神不是。你們要順從耶和華－你們的神，敬畏他，謹守他的誡命，聽從他的話，事奉他，專靠他。那先知或是那做夢的既用言語叛逆那領你們出埃及地、救贖你脫離為奴之家的耶和華－你們的神，要勾引你離開耶和華－你神所吩咐你行的道，你便要將他治死。這樣，就把那惡從你們中間除掉。「你的同胞弟兄，或是你的兒女，或是你懷中的妻，或是如同你性命的朋友，若暗中引誘你，說：『我們不如去事奉你和你列祖素來所不認識的別神－是你四圍列國的神。』無論是離你近，離你遠，從地這邊到地那邊的神，你不可依從他，也不可聽從他，眼不可顧惜他。你不可憐恤他，也不可遮庇他，總要殺他；你先下手，然後眾民也下手，將他治死。要用石頭打死他，因為他想要勾引你離開那領你出埃及地為奴之家的耶和華－你的神。以色列眾人都要聽見害怕，就不敢在你們中間再行這樣的惡了。「在耶和華－你神所賜你居住的各城中，你若聽人說，有些匪類從你們中間的一座城出來勾引本城的居民，說：『我們不如去事奉你們素來所不認識的別神』；

所以萬軍之耶和華－以色列的神如此說：「看哪，我必將茵蔯給這百姓吃，又將苦膽水給他們喝。

馬豈能在崖石上奔跑？人豈能在那裏用牛耕種呢？你們卻使公平變為苦膽，使公義的果子變為茵蔯。

弟兄們，你們要謹慎，免得你們中間或有人存着不信的惡心，把永生神離棄了。

我看出你正在苦膽之中，被罪惡捆綁。」

「在你們中間，在耶和華－你神所賜你的諸城中，無論哪座城裏，若有人，或男或女，行耶和華－你神眼中看為惡的事，違背了他的約，去事奉敬拜別神，或拜日頭，或拜月亮，或拜天象，是主不曾吩咐的；有人告訴你，你也聽見了，就要細細地探聽，果然是真，準有這可憎惡的事行在以色列中，你就要將行這惡事的男人或女人拉到城門外，用石頭將他打死。要憑兩三個人的口作見證將那當死的人治死；不可憑一個人的口作見證將他治死。見證人要先下手，然後眾民也下手將他治死。這樣，就把那惡從你們中間除掉。

他們為立約說謊言，起假誓；因此，災罰如苦菜滋生在田間的犂溝中。
