耶和华对我说：“你要在犹大城邑中和耶路撒冷街市上，宣告这一切话说：你们当听从遵行这约的话。

惟独你可以亲近耶和华；他们却不可亲近；百姓也不可和你一同上来。”摩西下山，将耶和华的命令典章都述说与百姓听。众百姓齐声说：“耶和华所吩咐的，我们都必遵行。”摩西将耶和华的命令都写上。清早起来，在山下筑一座坛，按以色列十二支派立十二根柱子，又打发以色列人中的少年人去献燔祭，又向耶和华献牛为平安祭。摩西将血一半盛在盆中，一半洒在坛上；又将约书念给百姓听。他们说：“耶和华所吩咐的，我们都必遵行。”摩西将血洒在百姓身上，说：“你看！这是立约的血，是耶和华按这一切话与你们立约的凭据。”

不像我拉着他们祖宗的手，领他们出埃及地的时候，与他们所立的约。我虽作他们的丈夫，他们却背了我的约。这是耶和华说的。”

“当听这约的话，告诉犹大人和耶路撒冷的居民，

不像我拉着他们祖宗的手，领他们出埃及的时候，与他们所立的约。因为他们不恒心守我的约，我也不理他们。这是主说的。”

你们是先知的子孙，也承受神与你们祖宗所立的约，就是对亚伯拉罕说：‘地上万族都要因你的后裔得福。’

人必回答说：‘是因这地的人离弃了耶和华他们列祖的神，领他们出埃及地的时候与他们所立的约，

为要你顺从耶和华你神今日与你所立的约，向你所起的誓。

你在何烈山站在耶和华你神面前的那日，耶和华对我说：‘你为我招聚百姓，我要叫他们听见我的话，使他们存活在世的日子，可以学习敬畏我，又可以教训儿女这样行。’

你们要谨慎，免得忘记耶和华你们神与你们所立的约，为自己雕刻偶像，就是耶和华你神所禁止你做的偶像；

他将所吩咐你们当守的约指示你们，就是十条诫，并将这诫写在两块石版上。
