The Lord will grant that the enemies who rise up against you will be defeated before you. They will come at you from one direction but flee from you in seven.

Enemies will rise up against you. But the Lord will help you win the battle over them. They will come at you from one direction. But they’ll run away from you in every direction.

“ The Lord will cause your enemies who rise against you to be defeated before you. They shall come out against you one way and flee before you seven ways.

“ The Lord will conquer your enemies when they attack you. They will attack you from one direction, but they will scatter from you in seven!

Then the Lord sent an angel who cut down every mighty man of valor, leader, and captain in the camp of the king of Assyria. So he returned shamefaced to his own land. I will beat down his foes before his face, And plague those who hate him.

Thus Hezekiah did throughout all Judah, and he did what was good and right and true before the Lord his God.And in every work that he began in the service of the house of God, in the law and in the commandment, to seek his God, he did it with all his heart. So he prospered.

Then the others came out of the city against them; so they were caught in the midst of Israel, some on this side and some on that side. And they struck them down, so that they let none of them remain or escape.

Now as Samuel was offering up the burnt offering, the Philistines drew near to battle against Israel. But the Lord thundered with a loud thunder upon the Philistines that day, and so confused them that they were overcome before Israel.And the men of Israel went out of Mizpah and pursued the Philistines, and drove them back as far as below Beth Car.

So the Lord routed them before Israel, killed them with a great slaughter at Gibeon, chased them along the road that goes to Beth Horon, and struck them down as far as Azekah and Makkedah.And it happened, as they fled before Israel and were on the descent of Beth Horon, that the Lord cast down large hailstones from heaven on them as far as Azekah, and they died. There were more who died from the hailstones than the children of Israel killed with the sword.

Then Zerah the Ethiopian came out against them with an army of a million men and three hundred chariots, and he came to Mareshah.So Asa went out against him, and they set the troops in battle array in the Valley of Zephathah at Mareshah.And Asa cried out to the Lord his God, and said,“ Lord, it is nothing for You to help, whether with many or with those who have no power; help us, O Lord our God, for we rest on You, and in Your name we go against this multitude. O Lord, You are our God; do not let man prevail against You!”So the Lord struck the Ethiopians before Asa and Judah, and the Ethiopians fled.And Asa and the people who were with him pursued them to Gerar. So the Ethiopians were overthrown, and they could not recover, for they were broken before the Lord and His army. And they carried away very much spoil.Then they defeated all the cities around Gerar, for the fear of the Lord came upon them; and they plundered all the cities, for there was exceedingly much spoil in them.They also attacked the livestock enclosures, and carried off sheep and camels in abundance, and returned to Jerusalem.

How could one chase a thousand, And two put ten thousand to flight, Unless their Rock had sold them, And the Lord had surrendered them?

All these kings and their land Joshua took at one time, because the Lord God of Israel fought for Israel.

“ The Lord will cause you to be defeated before your enemies; you shall go out one way against them and flee seven ways before them; and you shall become troublesome to all the kingdoms of the earth.

Asa did what was good and right in the eyes of the Lord his God,for he removed the altars of the foreign gods and the high places, and broke down the sacred pillars and cut down the wooden images.He commanded Judah to seek the Lord God of their fathers, and to observe the law and the commandment.He also removed the high places and the incense altars from all the cities of Judah, and the kingdom was quiet under him.And he built fortified cities in Judah, for the land had rest; he had no war in those years, because the Lord had given him rest.

Then Samuel spoke to all the house of Israel, saying,“ If you return to the Lord with all your hearts, then put away the foreign gods and the Ashtoreths from among you, and prepare your hearts for the Lord, and serve Him only; and He will deliver you from the hand of the Philistines.”So the children of Israel put away the Baals and the Ashtoreths, and served the Lord only.

Now when they began to sing and to praise, the Lord set ambushes against the people of Ammon, Moab, and Mount Seir, who had come against Judah; and they were defeated.For the people of Ammon and Moab stood up against the inhabitants of Mount Seir to utterly kill and destroy them. And when they had made an end of the inhabitants of Seir, they helped to destroy one another.So when Judah came to a place overlooking the wilderness, they looked toward the multitude; and there were their dead bodies, fallen on the earth. No one had escaped.When Jehoshaphat and his people came to take away their spoil, they found among them an abundance of valuables on the dead bodies, and precious jewelry, which they stripped off for themselves, more than they could carry away; and they were three days gathering the spoil because there was so much.
