then the Lord will overwhelm you and your children with indescribable plagues. These plagues will be intense and without relief, making you miserable and unbearably sick.

則耶和華必使爾遘奇異之災、至重至久之殃、艱苦纏綿之病、爰及苗裔、

則耶和華必降災於爾、爰及子孫、實屬非常之事、即至久至重之殃、纏綿艱苦之病、

則主必以至重至久之異災、至重至久之異災、至重至久之疾病、加諸爾身與爾子孫之身、

the Lord will send fearful plagues on you and your descendants, harsh and prolonged disasters, and severe and lingering illnesses.

he will send terrible plagues on you and your children after you. He’ll send horrible and lasting troubles. He’ll make you very sick for a long time.

then the Lord will bring on you and your offspring extraordinary afflictions, afflictions severe and lasting, and sicknesses grievous and lasting.

he will bring wondrous plagues on you and your descendants, severe and lasting plagues, and terrible and chronic sicknesses.

then the Lord will bring extraordinary plagues on you and your descendants, severe and lasting plagues, and miserable and chronic sicknesses.

then the Lord will bring upon you and your descendants extraordinary plagues— great and prolonged plagues— and serious and prolonged sicknesses.

then Jehovah will make thy plagues wonderful, and the plagues of thy seed, even great plagues, and of long continuance, and sore sicknesses, and of long continuance.

He will bring extraordinary plagues on you and your descendants, severe and lasting plagues, and terrible and chronic sicknesses.

Then the LORD will make thy plagues wonderful, and the plagues of thy seed,[ even] great plagues, and of long continuance, and sore sicknesses, and of long continuance.

then the LORD will increase your punishments and those of your descendants– great and long-lasting afflictions and severe, enduring illnesses.

then Yahweh will make your plagues and the plagues of your offspring fearful, even great plagues, and of long duration, and severe sicknesses, and of long duration.

Then my anger will blaze forth against them. I will abandon them, hiding my face from them, and they will be devoured. Terrible trouble will come down on them, and on that day they will say,‘ These disasters have come down on us because God is no longer among us!’At that time I will hide my face from them on account of all the evil they commit by worshiping other gods.

“ Does it mean nothing to you, all you who pass by? Look around and see if there is any suffering like mine, which the Lord brought on me when he erupted in fierce anger.

She defiled herself with immorality and gave no thought to her future. Now she lies in the gutter with no one to lift her out.“ Lord, see my misery,” she cries.“ The enemy has triumphed.”

For there will be greater anguish in those days than at any time since God created the world. And it will never be so great again.

So now I will destroy you and your family, just as I destroyed the descendants of Jeroboam son of Nebat.The members of Baasha’s family who die in the city will be eaten by dogs, and those who die in the field will be eaten by vultures.”

These horrors will serve as a sign and warning among you and your descendants forever.

then I will uproot Israel from this land that I have given them. I will reject this Temple that I have made holy to honor my name. I will make Israel an object of mockery and ridicule among the nations.And though this Temple is impressive now, all who pass by will be appalled and will gasp in horror. They will ask,‘ Why did the Lord do such terrible things to this land and to this Temple?’“ And the answer will be,‘ Because his people abandoned the Lord their God, who brought their ancestors out of Egypt, and they worshiped other gods instead and bowed down to them. That is why the Lord has brought all these disasters on them.’”

Not a king in all the earth— no one in all the world— would have believed that an enemy could march through the gates of Jerusalem.

For my anger blazes forth like fire and burns to the depths of the grave. It devours the earth and all its crops and ignites the foundations of the mountains.

This shows that Israel will go a long time without a king or prince, and without sacrifices, sacred pillars, priests, or even idols!

The Lord will never pardon such people. Instead his anger and jealousy will burn against them. All the curses written in this book will come down on them, and the Lord will erase their names from under heaven.The Lord will separate them from all the tribes of Israel, to pour out on them all the curses of the covenant recorded in this Book of Instruction.“ Then the generations to come, both your own descendants and the foreigners who come from distant lands, will see the devastation of the land and the diseases the Lord inflicts on it.They will exclaim,‘ The whole land is devastated by sulfur and salt. It is a wasteland with nothing planted and nothing growing, not even a blade of grass. It is like the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah, Admah and Zeboiim, which the Lord destroyed in his intense anger.’“ And all the surrounding nations will ask,‘ Why has the Lord done this to this land? Why was he so angry?’“ And the answer will be,‘ This happened because the people of the land abandoned the covenant that the Lord, the God of their ancestors, made with them when he brought them out of the land of Egypt.Instead, they turned away to serve and worship gods they had not known before, gods that were not from the Lord.That is why the Lord’s anger has burned against this land, bringing down on it every curse recorded in this book.In great anger and fury the Lord uprooted his people from their land and banished them to another land, where they still live today!’

I would have annihilated them, wiping out even the memory of them.

You have kept your word and done to us and our rulers exactly as you warned. Never has there been such a disaster as happened in Jerusalem.
