They will lay siege to all the cities throughout your land until the high fortified walls in which you trust fall down. They will besiege all the cities throughout the land the Lord your God is giving you.

They’ll surround all the cities throughout your whole land. They’ll attack those cities until the high, strong walls you trust in fall down. That’s what will happen to the cities in the land the Lord your God is giving you.

“ They shall besiege you in all your towns, until your high and fortified walls, in which you trusted, come down throughout all your land. And they shall besiege you in all your towns throughout all your land, which the Lord your God has given you.

They will attack your cities until all the fortified walls in your land— the walls you trusted to protect you— are knocked down. They will attack all the towns in the land the Lord your God has given you.

Now in the fourteenth year of king Hezekiah, Sennacherib king of Assyria came up against all the fortified cities of Judah, and took them.

Yahweh has sworn by his right hand, and by the arm of his strength,“ Surely I will no more give your grain to be food for your enemies, and foreigners will not drink your new wine, for which you have labored,

I will bring a sword upon you that will execute the vengeance of the covenant. You will be gathered together within your cities, and I will send the pestilence among you. You will be delivered into the hand of the enemy.

“ You also, son of man, take a tile, and lay it before yourself, and portray on it a city, even Jerusalem.Lay siege against it, build forts against it, and cast up a mound against it. Also set camps against it and plant battering rams against it all around.Take for yourself an iron pan, and set it for a wall of iron between you and the city. Then set your face toward it. It will be besieged, and you shall lay siege against it. This shall be a sign to the house of Israel.“ Moreover lie on your left side, and lay the iniquity of the house of Israel on it. According to the number of the days that you shall lie on it, you shall bear their iniquity.For I have appointed the years of their iniquity to be to you a number of days, even three hundred ninety days. So you shall bear the iniquity of the house of Israel.“ Again, when you have accomplished these, you shall lie on your right side, and shall bear the iniquity of the house of Judah. I have appointed forty days, each day for a year, to you.You shall set your face toward the siege of Jerusalem, with your arm uncovered; and you shall prophesy against it.Behold, I put ropes on you, and you shall not turn yourself from one side to the other, until you have accomplished the days of your siege.

The Chaldeans will come again, and fight against this city. They will take it and burn it with fire.”’

In the ninth year of his reign, in the tenth month, in the tenth day of the month, Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon came, he and all his army, against Jerusalem, and encamped against it; and they built forts against it round about.So the city was besieged to the eleventh year of king Zedekiah.In the fourth month, in the ninth day of the month, the famine was severe in the city, so that there was no bread for the people of the land.Then a breach was made in the city, and all the men of war fled, and went out of the city by night by the way of the gate between the two walls, which was by the king’s garden. Now the Chaldeans were against the city all around. The men of war went toward the Arabah,

That day is a day of wrath, a day of distress and anguish, a day of trouble and ruin, a day of darkness and gloom, a day of clouds and blackness,a day of the trumpet and alarm, against the fortified cities, and against the high battlements.

“ But when you see Jerusalem surrounded by armies, then know that its desolation is at hand.Then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains. Let those who are in the middle of her depart. Let those who are in the country not enter therein.For these are days of vengeance, that all things which are written may be fulfilled.Woe to those who are pregnant and to those who nurse infants in those days! For there will be great distress in the land, and wrath to this people.They will fall by the edge of the sword, and will be led captive into all the nations. Jerusalem will be trampled down by the Gentiles, until the times of the Gentiles are fulfilled.

For the days will come on you, when your enemies will throw up a barricade against you, surround you, hem you in on every side,and will dash you and your children within you to the ground. They will not leave in you one stone on another, because you didn’t know the time of your visitation.”

Your country is desolate. Your cities are burned with fire. Strangers devour your land in your presence and it is desolate, as overthrown by strangers.

At that time the servants of Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon came up to Jerusalem, and the city was besieged.Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon came to the city while his servants were besieging it,

‘ Yahweh, the God of Israel says,“ Behold, I will turn back the weapons of war that are in your hands, with which you fight against the king of Babylon, and against the Chaldeans who besiege you outside the walls; and I will gather them into the middle of this city.I myself will fight against you with an outstretched hand and with a strong arm, even in anger, in wrath, and in great indignation.I will strike the inhabitants of this city, both man and animal. They will die of a great pestilence.Afterward,” says Yahweh,“ I will deliver Zedekiah king of Judah, his servants, and the people, even those who are left in this city from the pestilence, from the sword, and from the famine, into the hand of Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, and into the hand of their enemies, and into the hand of those who seek their life. He will strike them with the edge of the sword. He will not spare them, have pity, or have mercy.”’

When the king heard that, he was angry, and sent his armies, destroyed those murderers, and burned their city.

In the ninth year of Zedekiah king of Judah, in the tenth month, Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon and all his army came against Jerusalem, and besieged it.In the eleventh year of Zedekiah, in the fourth month, the ninth day of the month, a breach was made in the city.All the princes of the king of Babylon came in, and sat in the middle gate, Nergal Sharezer, Samgarnebo, Sarsechim, Rabsaris, Nergal Sharezer, Rabmag, with all the rest of the princes of the king of Babylon.

“ Behold, I will make Jerusalem a cup of reeling to all the surrounding peoples, and it will also be on Judah in the siege against Jerusalem.

For Yahweh says,“ Behold, I will sling out the inhabitants of the land at this time, and will distress them, that they may feel it.”

After the sixty- two weeks the Anointed One will be cut off, and will have nothing. The people of the prince who come will destroy the city and the sanctuary. Its end will be with a flood, and war will be even to the end. Desolations are determined.

For I will gather all nations against Jerusalem to battle; and the city will be taken, the houses rifled, and the women ravished. Half of the city will go out into captivity, and the rest of the people will not be cut off from the city.

“ When, therefore, you see the abomination of desolation, which was spoken of through Daniel the prophet, standing in the holy place( let the reader understand),then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains.

In the twelfth year of Ahaz king of Judah, Hoshea the son of Elah began to reign in Samaria over Israel for nine years.He did that which was evil in Yahweh’s sight, yet not as the kings of Israel who were before him.Shalmaneser king of Assyria came up against him, and Hoshea became his servant, and brought him tribute.The king of Assyria found conspiracy in Hoshea; for he had sent messengers to So king of Egypt, and offered no tribute to the king of Assyria, as he had done year by year. Therefore the king of Assyria seized him, and bound him in prison.Then the king of Assyria came up throughout all the land, went up to Samaria, and besieged it three years.In the ninth year of Hoshea the king of Assyria took Samaria, and carried Israel away to Assyria, and placed them in Halah, and on the Habor, the river of Gozan, and in the cities of the Medes.
