They will lay siege to all the cities throughout your land until the high fortified walls in which you trust fall down. They will besiege all the cities throughout the land the Lord your God is giving you.

They’ll surround all the cities throughout your whole land. They’ll attack those cities until the high, strong walls you trust in fall down. That’s what will happen to the cities in the land the Lord your God is giving you.

“ They shall besiege you in all your towns, until your high and fortified walls, in which you trusted, come down throughout all your land. And they shall besiege you in all your towns throughout all your land, which the Lord your God has given you.

They will attack your cities until all the fortified walls in your land— the walls you trusted to protect you— are knocked down. They will attack all the towns in the land the Lord your God has given you.

They will besiege you within all your city gates until your high and fortified walls, that you trust in, come down throughout your land. They will besiege you within all your city gates throughout the land the LORD your God has given you.

And it will besiege you in all your towns until your high and fortified walls in which you trusted come down throughout your land, and it will besiege you in all your towns throughout your land which the Lord your God has given you.

In the fourteenth year of King Hezekiah’s reign, King Sennacherib of Assyria marched up against all the fortified cities of Judah and captured them.

The LORD swears an oath by his right hand, by his strong arm:“ I will never again give your grain to your enemies as food, and foreigners will not drink your wine, which you worked hard to produce.

I will bring on you an avenging sword, a covenant vengeance. Although you will gather together into your cities, I will send pestilence among you and you will be given into enemy hands.

“ And you, son of man, take a brick and set it in front of you. Inscribe a city on it– Jerusalem.Lay siege to it! Build siege works against it. Erect a siege ramp against it! Post soldiers outside it and station battering rams around it.Then for your part take an iron frying pan and set it up as an iron wall between you and the city. Set your face toward it. It is to be under siege; you are to besiege it. This is a sign for the house of Israel.“ Also for your part lie on your left side and place the iniquity of the house of Israel on it. For the number of days you lie on your side you will bear their iniquity.I have determined that the number of the years of their iniquity are to be the number of days for you– 390 days. So bear the iniquity of the house of Israel.“ When you have completed these days, then lie down a second time, but on your right side, and bear the iniquity of the house of Judah 40 days– I have assigned one day for each year.You must turn your face toward the siege of Jerusalem with your arm bared and prophesy against it.Look here, I will tie you up with ropes, so you cannot turn from one side to the other until you complete the days of your siege.

Then the Babylonian forces will return. They will attack the city and will capture it and burn it down.

King Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon came against Jerusalem with his whole army and set up camp outside it. They built siege ramps all around it. He arrived on the tenth day of the tenth month in the ninth year that Zedekiah ruled over Judah.The city remained under siege until Zedekiah’s eleventh year.By the ninth day of the fourth month the famine in the city was so severe the residents had no food.They broke through the city walls, and all the soldiers tried to escape. They left the city during the night. They went through the gate between the two walls that is near the king’s garden.( The Babylonians had the city surrounded.) Then they headed for the Jordan Valley.

That day will be a day of God’s anger, a day of distress and hardship, a day of devastation and ruin, a day of darkness and gloom, a day of clouds and dark skies,a day of trumpet blasts and battle cries. Judgment will fall on the fortified cities and the high corner towers.

“ But when you see Jerusalem surrounded by armies, then know that its desolation has come near.Then those who are in Judea must flee to the mountains. Those who are inside the city must depart. Those who are out in the country must not enter it,because these are days of vengeance, to fulfill all that is written.Woe to those who are pregnant and to those who are nursing their babies in those days! For there will be great distress on the earth and wrath against this people.They will fall by the edge of the sword and be led away as captives among all nations. Jerusalem will be trampled down by the Gentiles until the times of the Gentiles are fulfilled.

For the days will come upon you when your enemies will build an embankment against you and surround you and close in on you from every side.They will demolish you– you and your children within your walls– and they will not leave within you one stone on top of another, because you did not recognize the time of your visitation from God.”

Your land is devastated, your cities burned with fire. Right before your eyes your crops are being destroyed by foreign invaders. They leave behind devastation and destruction.

At that time the generals of King Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon marched to Jerusalem and besieged the city.King Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon came to the city while his generals were besieging it.

that the LORD, the God of Israel, says,‘ The forces at your disposal are now outside the walls fighting against King Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon and the Babylonians who have you under siege. I will gather those forces back inside the city.In anger, in fury, and in wrath I myself will fight against you with my mighty power and great strength!I will kill everything living in Jerusalem, people and animals alike! They will die from terrible diseases.Then I, the LORD, promise that I will hand over King Zedekiah of Judah, his officials, and any of the people who survive the war, starvation, and disease. I will hand them over to King Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon and to their enemies who want to kill them. He will slaughter them with the sword. He will not show them any mercy, compassion, or pity.’

The king was furious! He sent his soldiers, and they put those murderers to death and set their city on fire.

King Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon came against Jerusalem with his whole army and laid siege to it. The siege began in the tenth month of the ninth year that Zedekiah ruled over Judah.It lasted until the ninth day of the fourth month of Zedekiah’s eleventh year. On that day they broke through the city walls.Then Nergal-Sharezer of Samgar, Nebo-Sarsekim, who was a chief officer, Nergal-Sharezer, who was a high official, and all the other officers of the king of Babylon came and set up quarters in the Middle Gate.

“ I am about to make Jerusalem a cup that brings dizziness to all the surrounding nations; indeed, Judah will also be included when Jerusalem is besieged.

For the LORD says,“ I will now throw out those who live in this land. I will bring so much trouble on them that they will actually feel it.”

Now after the sixty-two weeks, an anointed one will be cut off and have nothing. As for the city and the sanctuary, the people of the coming prince will destroy them. But his end will come speedily like a flood. Until the end of the war that has been decreed there will be destruction.

For I will gather all the nations against Jerusalem to wage war; the city will be taken, its houses plundered, and the women raped. Then half of the city will go into exile, but the remainder of the people will not be taken away.

“ So when you see the abomination of desolation– spoken about by Daniel the prophet– standing in the holy place( let the reader understand),then those in Judea must flee to the mountains.

In the twelfth year of King Ahaz’s reign over Judah, Hoshea son of Elah became king over Israel. He reigned in Samaria for nine years.He did evil in the sight of the LORD, but not to the same degree as the Israelite kings who preceded him.King Shalmaneser of Assyria threatened him; Hoshea became his subject and paid him tribute.The king of Assyria discovered that Hoshea was planning a revolt. Hoshea had sent messengers to King So of Egypt and had not sent his annual tribute to the king of Assyria. So the king of Assyria arrested him and imprisoned him.The king of Assyria marched through the whole land. He attacked Samaria and besieged it for three years.In the ninth year of Hoshea’s reign, the king of Assyria captured Samaria and deported the people of Israel to Assyria. He settled them in Halah, along the Habor( the river of Gozan), and in the cities of the Medes.
