那是黑暗、陰森的日子，是密雲、烏黑的日子，如同黎明籠罩山嶺。有一隊蝗蟲，又大又強，自古以來沒有像這樣的，以後直到萬代也必沒有。牠們前面有火吞噬，後面有火焰燒盡。牠們未到以前，地如伊甸園，過去以後，卻成了荒涼的曠野，沒有一樣能躲避牠們。牠們形狀如馬，奔跑如戰馬。

因你忘記拯救你的上帝，忘記那保護你的磐石；所以，你雖栽上佳美的樹苗，插上別樣的枝子，栽種的日子，你使它生長，栽種的早晨，你使它開花，但在愁苦、極其傷痛的日子，所收割的都歸無有。

次日黎明，上帝卻安排一條蟲來咬這蓖麻，以致枯乾。
