那日是黑暗、幽冥、密雲、烏黑的日子，好像晨光鋪滿山嶺。有一隊蝗蟲又大又強；從來沒有這樣的，以後直到萬代也必沒有。牠們前面如火燒滅，後面如火焰燒盡。未到以前，地如伊甸園；過去以後，成了荒涼的曠野；沒有一樣能躲避牠們的。牠們的形狀如馬，奔跑如馬兵。

因你忘記救你的神，不記念你能力的磐石；所以，你栽上佳美的樹秧子，插上異樣的栽子。栽種的日子，你周圍圈上籬笆，又到早晨使你所種的開花；但在愁苦極其傷痛的日子，所收割的都飛去了。

次日黎明，神卻安排一條蟲子咬這蓖麻，以致枯槁。
