At midday you will grope about like a blind person in the dark. You will be unsuccessful in everything you do; day after day you will be oppressed and robbed, with no one to rescue you.

Even at noon you will have to feel your way around like a blind person in the dark. You won’t have success in anything you do. Day after day you will be robbed and treated badly. No one will be able to save you.

and you shall grope at noonday, as the blind grope in darkness, and you shall not prosper in your ways. And you shall be only oppressed and robbed continually, and there shall be no one to help you.

You will grope around in broad daylight like a blind person groping in the darkness, but you will not find your way. You will be oppressed and robbed continually, and no one will come to save you.

以色列族復行惡於耶和華前、耶和華以之付於米田族手、凡歷七年。既為米田族所敗、遂營山窟居巖洞、扼其險要。以色列族耕稼既畢、米田亞馬力與東方之人、咸來攻擊、建置營壘、凡土所產、悉被斬艾、至於迦薩。以色列族食物無存、牛羊與驢亦盡。敵與駱駝、牲畜、帷幕、如蝗眾多、不可勝數、既至、欲滅斯土。以色列族、緣米田人故、匱乏特甚、呼籲耶和華。

以色列族服事厄倫歷十有八年。

彼暴虐挾制居基列、約但東亞摩哩人地之以色列族、歷十八年。

於是耶和華奮怒、痛疾厥民兮、使之見敗於異邦、受制於仇敵兮、維彼寇讎、困迫之兮、恃強以凌虐兮、

爾罰我罪、使我國之豐亨見奪於異邦列王、彼轄我及我牲畜、任意以為、使我艱苦備嘗。

如言我福音不明、則惟自棄者不明之、即世之上帝、惑不信者心、使肖上帝之基督福音之榮、不光照焉、

我將使人羅害、徧捫不見、無異瞽者、因彼獲罪於我耶和華、故其血必視若塵埃、其肉同於糞壤、

兄弟乎、余甚欲爾克知斯奧、免爾自恃為智、即以色列中數頑人、迨眾異邦人之歸、而後悉得救、

願厥目盲眯不明、厥體戰栗不已兮、願爾怒奮揚、爾憤震烈、以擊斯人兮、

先是非利士人不容鐵工居於以色列族地、恐希百來人鑄作劍戟。以色列人欲礪其耒耜、斧斤、則詣非利士人所。惟有銼以削其耒耜、斧斤、與鋤、使錣銳利。當戰之時、惟掃羅與約拿單、有劍戟、從者俱無。

非利士人集、欲攻以色列族、率車三萬、騎六千、步卒如海沙之眾多、至伯亞文東之密抹建營。以色列人見事處困迫、遭於患難、則匿於巖穴、林藪、岡巒、坎阱。亦有希百來人濟約但河、遁於伽得、基列。掃羅仍在吉甲、從之者戰慄。

晦冥無光、遍捫不見、其迷眩若醉焉。

乃民弗順、違逆乎爾、背爾律例、爾之先知訓迪之、使歸於爾、反為所殺、干爾震怒。故爾使之困於敵國、遭難之時、彼呼籲爾、爾自天俯聽、矜憫靡涯、累賜扶危之士、不為敵所害。既釋之後、彼復行惡於爾前、爾假手於敵、使敵人統轄之、民仍籲爾、爾自天垂聽、體恤倍至、屢加援手。加以訓誨、使服爾律例、彼妄自誇大、不從爾命、爾之法度、遵之者則得生、彼故犯之、強項難馴、背命不聽。

曰、然則以色列人所求者、有不得乎、曰、選民得之、其餘則頑也、經云、上帝任其昏昧、目不見、耳不聞、至於今日、大闢曰、厥席成機檻以陷之、為礙石以罰之、厥目矇而勿見、厥背屈而不伸、

僕婢制我、援手無人兮。

爾與此人同潔、代為捐費、俾得薙髮、如此、則眾知前所聞者、皆謬、爾固守法而行之者也、

予因此瞻喪目矇兮。
