At midday you will grope about like a blind person in the dark. You will be unsuccessful in everything you do; day after day you will be oppressed and robbed, with no one to rescue you.

Even at noon you will have to feel your way around like a blind person in the dark. You won’t have success in anything you do. Day after day you will be robbed and treated badly. No one will be able to save you.

and you shall grope at noonday, as the blind grope in darkness, and you shall not prosper in your ways. And you shall be only oppressed and robbed continually, and there shall be no one to help you.

And the sons of Israel served Eglon the king of Moab for eighteen years.

And even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled to those who are perishing,in whose case the god of this world has blinded the minds of the unbelieving so that they will not see the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God.

I will bring distress on mankind So that they will walk like those who are blind, Because they have sinned against the Lord; And their blood will be poured out like dust, And their flesh like dung.

For I do not want you, brothers and sisters, to be uninformed of this mystery— so that you will not be wise in your own estimation— that a partial hardening has happened to Israel until the fullness of the Gentiles has come in;

May their eyes grow dim so that they cannot see, And make their hips shake continually.Pour out Your indignation on them, And may Your burning anger overtake them.

Now no blacksmith could be found in all the land of Israel, because the Philistines said,“ Otherwise the Hebrews will make swords or spears.”So all Israel went down to the Philistines, each to sharpen his plowshare, his mattock, his axe, and his hoe.The charge was two thirds of a shekel for the plowshares, the mattocks, the forks, and the axes, and to fix the cattle goads.So it came about on the day of battle that neither sword nor spear was found in the hands of any of the people who were with Saul and Jonathan, but they were found with Saul and his son Jonathan.

Now the Philistines assembled to fight with Israel, thirty thousand chariots and six thousand horsemen, and people like the sand which is on the seashore in abundance; and they came up and camped in Michmash, east of Beth aven.When the men of Israel saw that they were in trouble( for the people were hard pressed), then the people kept themselves hidden in caves, in crevices, in cliffs, in crypts, and in pits.And some of the Hebrews crossed the Jordan into the land of Gad and Gilead. But as for Saul, he was still in Gilgal, and all the people followed him, trembling.

They grope in darkness with no light, And He makes them stagger like a drunken person.

“ But they became rebellious and revolted against You, And threw Your Law behind their backs And killed Your prophets who had admonished them In order to bring them back to You, And they committed great blasphemies.Therefore You handed them over to their enemies who oppressed them, But when they cried out to You in the time of their distress, You heard from heaven, and according to Your great compassion You gave them people who saved them from the hand of their enemies.But as soon as they had rest, they did evil again before You; Therefore You abandoned them to the hand of their enemies, so that they ruled over them. When they cried out again to You, You heard from heaven, And many times You rescued them according to Your compassion,And admonished them in order to turn them back to Your Law. Yet they acted arrogantly and did not listen to Your commandments but sinned against Your ordinances, Which, if a person follows them, then he will live by them. And they turned a stubborn shoulder and stiffened their neck, and would not listen.

What then? What Israel is seeking, it has not obtained, but those who were chosen obtained it, and the rest were hardened;just as it is written:“ God gave them a spirit of stupor, Eyes to see not and ears to hear not, Down to this very day.”And David says,“ May their table become a snare and a trap, And a stumbling block and a retribution to them.May their eyes be darkened to see not, And bend their backs continually.”

Slaves rule over us; There is no one to rescue us from their hand.

take them along and purify yourself together with them, and pay their expenses so that they may shave their heads; and then everyone will know that there is nothing to what they have been told about you, but that you yourself also conform, keeping the Law.

Because of this our heart is faint, Because of these things our eyes are dim;
