The Lord will cause you to be defeated before your enemies. You will come at them from one direction but flee from them in seven, and you will become a thing of horror to all the kingdoms on earth.

The Lord will help your enemies win the battle over you. You will come at them from one direction. But you will run away from them in every direction. All the kingdoms on earth will be completely shocked when they see you.

若不是他們的磐石賣掉他們，若不是耶和華拋棄他們，一人怎能趕散他們千人？二人怎能擊潰他們萬人？

我要嚴懲你們，使你們敗在敵人手下；你們要被那些恨你們的人統治，即使沒有人追趕，你們也要逃命。

如果他們問你，『我們該去哪裡，』你就告訴他們，耶和華這樣說，『該死的死，該被殺的被殺，該遭饑荒的遭饑荒，該被擄的被擄。』「我要讓他們遭受四種禍患——刀殺、狗撕、鳥啄、獸吞。這是耶和華說的。因為猶大王希西迦的兒子瑪拿西在耶路撒冷的所作所為，我要使他們的遭遇令天下萬國驚懼。耶路撒冷啊，誰會同情你？誰會為你悲哀？誰會駐足向你問安？你背棄我，遠離我，因此我要伸手攻擊你，毀滅你，不再憐憫你。這是耶和華說的。我要在這片土地上的各城門口用簸箕簸散我的子民，使他們喪掉兒女；我要滅絕他們，因為他們不思悔改。我要使他們的寡婦比海沙還多，使毀滅者在午間突然奪取青年的性命，以致母親們陷入痛苦、驚恐中。生過七個孩子的母親心力枯竭，奄奄一息。她羞愧難當，她的希望突然破滅，猶如白晝突然變成黑夜。我必使其餘的人喪身在敵人刀下。這是耶和華說的。」

「我要使你們當中的那些倖存者在敵國心驚膽戰，過著風聲鶴唳、惶恐不安的生活。即使無人追趕，他們也將倉皇逃命，互相絆倒，如同躲避刀劍一樣。你們必無力抵擋敵人。

我要使他們飽受戰爭、饑荒和瘟疫之災，使他們的遭遇令天下萬國驚懼。在我流放他們去的地方，他們必受凌辱、嘲笑、譏諷和咒詛。

因此耶和華說，既然你們不聽我的話，不給自己的同胞自由，看啊，我必使你們自由地死在戰爭、瘟疫和饑荒中，使你們的遭遇令天下萬國驚懼。這是耶和華說的。

他們要死在刀劍之下，要被擄到外國去。耶路撒冷要被外族人蹂躪，直到外族人肆虐的日期滿了為止。
