Write all the words of this law on them. Do it when you have crossed over into the land the Lord your God is giving you. It’s a land that has plenty of milk and honey. The Lord is the God of your people of long ago. He promised you that you would enter the land.

And you shall write on them all the words of this law, when you cross over to enter the land that the Lord your God is giving you, a land flowing with milk and honey, as the Lord, the God of your fathers, has promised you.

Write this whole body of instruction on them when you cross the river to enter the land the Lord your God is giving you— a land flowing with milk and honey, just as the Lord, the God of your ancestors, promised you.

There, in the presence of the Israelites, Joshua wrote on stones a copy of the law of Moses.

“ The days are coming,” declares the Lord,“ when I will make a new covenant with the people of Israel and with the people of Judah.It will not be like the covenant I made with their ancestors when I took them by the hand to lead them out of Egypt, because they broke my covenant, though I was a husband to them,” declares the Lord.“ This is the covenant I will make with the people of Israel after that time,” declares the Lord.“ I will put my law in their minds and write it on their hearts. I will be their God, and they will be my people.

“ This is the covenant I will make with them after that time, says the Lord. I will put my laws in their hearts, and I will write them on their minds.”

The Israelites had moved about in the wilderness forty years until all the men who were of military age when they left Egypt had died, since they had not obeyed the Lord. For the Lord had sworn to them that they would not see the land he had solemnly promised their ancestors to give us, a land flowing with milk and honey.

But in fact the ministry Jesus has received is as superior to theirs as the covenant of which he is mediator is superior to the old one, since the new covenant is established on better promises.For if there had been nothing wrong with that first covenant, no place would have been sought for another.But God found fault with the people and said:“ The days are coming, declares the Lord, when I will make a new covenant with the people of Israel and with the people of Judah.It will not be like the covenant I made with their ancestors when I took them by the hand to lead them out of Egypt, because they did not remain faithful to my covenant, and I turned away from them, declares the Lord.This is the covenant I will establish with the people of Israel after that time, declares the Lord. I will put my laws in their minds and write them on their hearts. I will be their God, and they will be my people.

But I said to you,“ You will possess their land; I will give it to you as an inheritance, a land flowing with milk and honey.” I am the Lord your God, who has set you apart from the nations.

Tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads.

You yourselves are our letter, written on our hearts, known and read by everyone.You show that you are a letter from Christ, the result of our ministry, written not with ink but with the Spirit of the living God, not on tablets of stone but on tablets of human hearts.

Then I will fulfill the oath I swore to your ancestors, to give them a land flowing with milk and honey’— the land you possess today.” I answered,“ Amen, Lord.”

They gave Moses this account:“ We went into the land to which you sent us, and it does flow with milk and honey! Here is its fruit.

If the Lord is pleased with us, he will lead us into that land, a land flowing with milk and honey, and will give it to us.

You gave them this land you had sworn to give their ancestors, a land flowing with milk and honey.
