You are to respond by saying in the presence of the LORD your God: My father was a wandering Aramean. He went down to Egypt with a few people and resided there as an alien. There he became a great, powerful, and populous nation.

你要在耶和华你神面前说：‘我祖原是一个将亡的亚兰人，下到埃及寄居。他人口稀少，在那里却成了又大又强、人数很多的国民。

你要在耶和华—你上帝面前告白说：‘我的祖先原是一个流亡的亚兰人，带着稀少的人丁下到埃及寄居。在那里，他却成了又大又强、人数众多的国。

你要在耶和华—你神面前告白说：‘我的祖先原是一个流亡的亚兰人，带着稀少的人丁下到埃及寄居。在那里，他却成了又大又强、人数众多的国。

爾在主爾之天主前、當敬告曰、我祖亞蘭人飄流無定、飄流無定或作窘迫將亡攜人無多以往伊及、乃旅於彼、在彼成為大族、強盛蕃衍、

Then you shall declare before the Lord your God:“ My father was a wandering Aramean, and he went down into Egypt with a few people and lived there and became a great nation, powerful and numerous.

Then you will speak while the Lord is listening. You will say,“ My father Jacob was a wanderer from the land of Aram. He went down into Egypt with a few people. He lived there and became the father of a great nation. It had huge numbers of people.

“ And you shall make response before the Lord your God,‘ A wandering Aramean was my father. And he went down into Egypt and sojourned there, few in number, and there he became a nation, great, mighty, and populous.

“ You must then say in the presence of the Lord your God,‘ My ancestor Jacob was a wandering Aramean who went to live as a foreigner in Egypt. His family arrived few in number, but in Egypt they became a large and mighty nation.

And you shall respond and say before the Lord your God,‘ My father was a wandering Aramean, and he went down to Egypt and resided there, few in number; but there he became a great, mighty, and populous nation.

And you shall answer and say before the Lord your God:‘ My father was a Syrian, about to perish, and he went down to Egypt and dwelt there, few in number; and there he became a nation, great, mighty, and populous.

And thou shalt answer and say before Jehovah thy God, A Syrian ready to perish was my father; and he went down into Egypt, and sojourned there, few in number; and he became there a nation, great, mighty, and populous.

And thou shalt speak and say before the LORD thy God, A Syrian ready to perish[ was] my father, and he went down into Egypt, and sojourned there with a few, and became there a nation, great, mighty, and populous:

Then you must affirm before the LORD YOUR GOD,“ A wandering Aramean was my ancestor, and he went down to Egypt and lived there as a foreigner with a household few in number, but there he became a great, powerful, and numerous people.

You shall answer and say before Yahweh your God,“ My father was a Syrian ready to perish. He went down into Egypt, and lived there, few in number. There he became a great, mighty, and populous nation.

Now the famine in the land was severe.When they had used up the grain they had brought back from Egypt, their father said to them,“ Go back and buy us a little food.”

And Joseph’s sons who were born to him in Egypt: two persons. All those of Jacob’s household who came to Egypt: seventy persons.

Your ancestors went down to Egypt, seventy people in all, and now the LORD your God has made you numerous, like the stars of the sky.

There I will sustain you, for there will be five more years of famine. Otherwise, you, your household, and everything you have will become destitute.”’

God sent me ahead of you to establish you as a remnant within the land and to keep you alive by a great deliverance.

Take twice as much silver with you. Return the silver that was returned to you in the top of your bags. Perhaps it was a mistake.

Jacob fled to the territory of Aram. Israel worked to earn a wife; he tended flocks for a wife.

and Jacob went down to Egypt. He and our ancestors died there,

“ The LORD had his heart set on you and chose you, not because you were more numerous than all peoples, for you were the fewest of all peoples.

Listen to me, you who pursue righteousness, you who seek the LORD: Look to the rock from which you were cut, and to the quarry from which you were dug.Look to Abraham your father, and to Sarah who gave birth to you. When I called him, he was only one; I blessed him and made him many.

The total number of Jacob’s descendants was seventy; Joseph was already in Egypt.

But the Israelites were fruitful, increased rapidly, multiplied, and became extremely numerous so that the land was filled with them.

Isaac was forty years old when he took as his wife Rebekah daughter of Bethuel the Aramean from Paddan-aram and sister of Laban the Aramean.

Israel set out with all that he had and came to Beer-sheba, and he offered sacrifices to the God of his father Isaac.That night God spoke to Israel in a vision:“ Jacob, Jacob!” he said. And Jacob replied,“ Here I am.”God said,“ I am God, the God of your father. Do not be afraid to go down to Egypt, for I will make you into a great nation there.I will go down with you to Egypt, and I will also bring you back. Joseph will close your eyes when you die.”Jacob left Beer-sheba. The sons of Israel took their father Jacob in the wagons Pharaoh had sent to carry him, along with their dependents and their wives.They also took their cattle and possessions they had acquired in the land of Canaan. Then Jacob and all his offspring with him came to Egypt.His sons and grandsons, his daughters and granddaughters, indeed all his offspring, he brought with him to Egypt.

But the more they oppressed them, the more they multiplied and spread so that the Egyptians came to dread the Israelites.

But God came to Laban the Aramean in a dream at night.“ Watch yourself!” God warned him.“ Don’t say anything to Jacob, either good or bad.”

There I was— the heat consumed me by day and the frost by night, and sleep fled from my eyes.

Then Israel went to Egypt; Jacob lived as an alien in the land of Ham.The LORD made his people very fruitful; he made them more numerous than their foes,

And Jacob deceived Laban the Aramean, not telling him that he was fleeing.

but will go to my land and my family to take a wife for my son Isaac.”

So Isaac sent Jacob to Paddan-aram, to Laban son of Bethuel the Aramean, the brother of Rebekah, the mother of Jacob and Esau.

Esau held a grudge against Jacob because of the blessing his father had given him. And Esau determined in his heart,“ The days of mourning for my father are approaching; then I will kill my brother Jacob.”

Israel settled in the land of Egypt, in the region of Goshen. They acquired property in it and became fruitful and very numerous.
