那麼他兄弟的妻就要當着長老們眼前湊上前到那人跟前，從他腳上脫去了鞋，吐唾沫在他臉上，應時說：「那不為他兄弟建立家室的、人都要這樣待他。」

則婦於長老前、就而解其履、唾其面曰、不欲為兄立家者、必如是待之、

則嫂必於長老前、解夫弟之履、唾於厥面、曰、不欲代兄生子為嗣者、必如是待之。

his brother’s widow shall go up to him in the presence of the elders, take off one of his sandals, spit in his face and say,“ This is what is done to the man who will not build up his brother’s family line.”

Then his brother’s widow will go up to him in front of the elders. She’ll pull one of his sandals off his foot. She’ll spit in his face. And she’ll say,“ That’s what we do to a man who won’t build up his brother’s family line.”

then his brother’s wife shall go up to him in the presence of the elders and pull his sandal off his foot and spit in his face. And she shall answer and say,‘ So shall it be done to the man who does not build up his brother’s house.’

the widow must walk over to him in the presence of the elders, pull his sandal from his foot, and spit in his face. Then she must declare,‘ This is what happens to a man who refuses to provide his brother with children.’

then his sister-in-law will go up to him in the sight of the elders, remove his sandal from his foot, and spit in his face. Then she will declare,‘ This is what is done to a man who will not build up his brother’s house.’

then his brother’s widow shall come up to him in the sight of the elders, and pull his sandal off his foot and spit in his face; and she shall declare,‘ This is what is done to the man who does not build up his brother’s house!’

then his brother’s wife shall come to him in the presence of the elders, remove his sandal from his foot, spit in his face, and answer and say,‘ So shall it be done to the man who will not build up his brother’s house.’

then shall his brother’s wife come unto him in the presence of the elders, and loose his shoe from off his foot, and spit in his face; and she shall answer and say, So shall it be done unto the man that doth not build up his brother’s house.

then his sister-in-law will go up to him in the sight of the elders, remove his sandal from his foot, and spit in his face. Then she will declare,‘ This is what is done to a man who will not build up his brother’s house.’

Then shall his brother’s wife come unto him in the presence of the elders, and loose his shoe from off his foot, and spit in his face, and shall answer and say, So shall it be done unto that man that will not build up his brother’s house.

then his sister-in-law must approach him in view of the elders, remove his sandal from his foot, and spit in his face. She will then respond,“ Thus may it be done to any man who does not maintain his brother’s family line!”

then his brother’s wife shall come to him in the presence of the elders, and loose his sandal from off his foot, and spit in his face. She shall answer and say,“ So shall it be done to the man who does not build up his brother’s house.”

從前在以色列，無論買贖或是交易，決定甚麼事，當事人就要脫鞋給對方。這是以色列中作證的方式。那有買贖權的近親對波阿斯說：“你自己買下來吧。”就把鞋脫下來。

耶和華對摩西說：“如果她的父親吐唾沫在她臉上，她不是要蒙羞七天嗎？現在把她關在營外七天，然後才讓她回來。”

我把我的背給打我的人打，把我的腮頰給拔我鬍鬚的人拔；我並沒有掩面躲避人的羞辱和人的唾液。

那時，耶和華藉著亞摩斯的兒子以賽亞說：“你解開你腰間的麻布，脫去你腳上的鞋。”以賽亞就這樣作了，露體赤足行走。

他們厭惡我，遠遠地離開我，又不住吐唾沫在我臉上，

我也娶了（“娶了”原文作“買了”）瑪倫的妻子摩押女子路得作妻子，使已死的人的名字留在他的產業上，免得他的名字在本族本鄉中除掉。今天你們都是見證人。”聚集在城門的眾人和長老都說：“我們都是見證人。願耶和華使進你家的這女人，像建立以色列家的拉結和利亞二人一樣。願你在以法他顯大，在伯利恆揚名。

他們要凌辱他，向他吐唾沫，鞭打他，殺害他，三天以後，他要復活。”

因此，耶和華以色列的神說：‘我曾說：你的家和你的父家，必永遠行在我面前。’現在耶和華卻說：‘我決不容你們這樣行了，因為尊重我的，我必尊重他；藐視我的，必受到輕視。

他傳講說：“有一位在我以後來的，能力比我大，我就是彎腰給他解鞋帶都沒有資格。

於是猶大對俄南說：“你去與你哥哥的妻子親近，向她盡你作弟弟的本分，替你的哥哥立後。”俄南知道生下來的孩子不會歸自己，所以每次與哥哥的妻子親近的時候，都遺精在地上，免得替自己的哥哥立後。俄南所作的，在耶和華眼中是件惡事，所以耶和華也取去他的性命。

然後向他吐唾沫，又拿起蘆葦打他的頭。

於是他們吐唾沫在他的臉上，用拳頭打他，也有人用掌摑他，說：

他是在我以後來的，我就是給他解鞋帶也不配。”
