The first son she bears shall carry on the name of the dead brother so that his name will not be blotted out from Israel.

And the first son whom she bears shall succeed to the name of his dead brother, that his name may not be blotted out of Israel.

It shall then be that the firstborn to whom she gives birth shall assume the name of his father’s deceased brother, so that his name will not be wiped out from Israel.

And it shall be that the firstborn son which she bears will succeed to the name of his dead brother, that his name may not be blotted out of Israel.

And it shall be, that the first- born that she beareth shall succeed in the name of his brother that is dead, that his name be not blotted out of Israel.

波阿斯上到城門，坐在那裏，看哪，波阿斯所說那個可以贖產業的至親經過。波阿斯說：「某某先生，請你轉回來，坐在這裏。」他就轉回來坐下。波阿斯又請了本城的十個長老來，對他們說：「請你們坐在這裏。」他們就都坐下。波阿斯對那至親說：「從摩押地回來的拿娥米，現在要賣我們弟兄以利米勒的那塊地。我想我應該向你說清楚：你可以買那塊地，當着在座的眾人和我百姓的長老面前，你若要贖就贖吧！倘若你不贖就告訴我，讓我知道，因為除了你以外，沒有人可以先贖，在你之後才輪到我。」那人說：「我要贖。」波阿斯說：「你從拿娥米和摩押女子路得手中買這地的時候，也當買死人的妻子，使死人在產業上留名。」那至親說：「這樣我就不能贖了，免得對我的產業有損。你儘管去贖我所當贖的吧，我不能贖了！」從前，在以色列中要確認任何交易，無論是贖業或買賣，一方必須脫鞋給另一方。以色列中都以此為證。

願他的後人斷絕，名字被塗去，不傳於下代！

你曾斥責列國，滅絕惡人；你曾塗去他們的名，直到永永遠遠。

我也娶瑪倫的妻子摩押女子路得，好讓死人可以在產業上留名，免得他的名在本族本鄉的城門中消失了。你們今日都是證人。」在城門坐着的所有百姓和長老說：「我們都是證人。願耶和華使進你家的這女子，像建立以色列家的拉結和利亞二人一樣。又願你在以法他得亨通，在伯利恆有名聲。願耶和華從這年輕女子賜你後裔，使你的家像她瑪從猶大所生法勒斯的家一樣。」

你且由着我，我要除滅他們，從天下塗去他們的名，我要使你成為比他們更大更強的國。』
