When a man takes a new wife, he shall not go out in the army, neither shall he be assigned any business. He shall be free at home one year, and shall cheer his wife whom he has taken.

If a man has recently married, he must not be sent to war or have any other duty laid on him. For one year he is to be free to stay at home and bring happiness to the wife he has married.

Suppose a man has just married his wife. Then don’t send him into battle. Don’t give him any other duty either. He’s free to stay home for one year. He needs time to make his new wife happy.

that they may train the young wives to love their husbands, to love their children,to be sober minded, chaste, workers at home, kind, being in subjection to their own husbands, that God’s word may not be blasphemed.

Let your spring be blessed. Rejoice in the wife of your youth.

But from the beginning of the creation, God made them male and female.For this cause a man will leave his father and mother, and will join to his wife,and the two will become one flesh, so that they are no longer two, but one flesh.What therefore God has joined together, let no man separate.”

Live joyfully with the wife whom you love all the days of your life of vanity, which he has given you under the sun, all your days of vanity, for that is your portion in life, and in your labor in which you labor under the sun.

He answered,“ Haven’t you read that he who made them from the beginning made them male and female,and said,‘ For this cause a man shall leave his father and mother, and shall be joined to his wife; and the two shall become one flesh?’So that they are no more two, but one flesh. What therefore God has joined together, don’t let man tear apart.”

But I say this, brothers: the time is short, that from now on, both those who have wives may be as though they had none;

But to the married I command— not I, but the Lord— that the wife not leave her husband( but if she departs, let her remain unmarried, or else be reconciled to her husband), and that the husband not leave his wife.But to the rest I— not the Lord— say, if any brother has an unbelieving wife, and she is content to live with him, let him not leave her.The woman who has an unbelieving husband, and he is content to live with her, let her not leave her husband.For the unbelieving husband is sanctified in the wife, and the unbelieving wife is sanctified in the husband. Otherwise your children would be unclean, but now they are holy.Yet if the unbeliever departs, let there be separation. The brother or the sister is not under bondage in such cases, but God has called us in peace.

Even so husbands also ought to love their own wives as their own bodies. He who loves his own wife loves himself.For no man ever hated his own flesh; but nourishes and cherishes it, even as the Lord also does the assembly;
