If a man has recently married, he must not be sent to war or have any other duty laid on him. For one year he is to be free to stay at home and bring happiness to the wife he has married.

Suppose a man has just married his wife. Then don’t send him into battle. Don’t give him any other duty either. He’s free to stay home for one year. He needs time to make his new wife happy.

This is why a man leaves his father and mother and bonds with his wife, and they become one flesh.

so that they may encourage the young women to love their husbands and to love their children,to be self-controlled, pure, workers at home, kind, and in submission to their husbands, so that God’s word will not be slandered.

Let your fountain be blessed, and take pleasure in the wife of your youth.

But from the beginning of creation God made them male and female.For this reason a man will leave his father and motherand the two will become one flesh. So they are no longer two, but one flesh.Therefore what God has joined together, let no one separate.”

Enjoy life with the wife you love all the days of your fleeting life, which has been given to you under the sun, all your fleeting days. For that is your portion in life and in your struggle under the sun.

“ Haven’t you read,” he replied,“ that he who created them in the beginning made them male and female,and he also said,‘ For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two will become one flesh’?So they are no longer two, but one flesh. Therefore, what God has joined together, let no one separate.”

This is what I mean, brothers and sisters: The time is limited, so from now on those who have wives should be as though they had none,

To the married I give this command— not I, but the Lord— a wife is not to leave her husband.But if she does leave, she must remain unmarried or be reconciled to her husband— and a husband is not to divorce his wife.But I( not the Lord) say to the rest: If any brother has an unbelieving wife and she is willing to live with him, he must not divorce her.Also, if any woman has an unbelieving husband and he is willing to live with her, she must not divorce her husband.For the unbelieving husband is made holy by the wife, and the unbelieving wife is made holy by the husband. Otherwise your children would be unclean, but as it is they are holy.But if the unbeliever leaves, let him leave. A brother or a sister is not bound in such cases. God has called you to live in peace.

In the same way, husbands are to love their wives as their own bodies. He who loves his wife loves himself.For no one ever hates his own flesh but provides and cares for it, just as Christ does for the church,
