The fathers shall not be put to death for the children, neither shall the children be put to death for the fathers. Every man shall be put to death for his own sin.

Parents are not to be put to death for their children, nor children put to death for their parents; each will die for their own sin.

Parents must not be put to death because of what their children do. And children must not be put to death because of what their parents do. People must die because of their own sins.

“ In those days they will say no more,“‘ The fathers have eaten sour grapes, and the children’s teeth are set on edge.’But everyone will die for his own iniquity. Every man who eats the sour grapes, his teeth will be set on edge.

As soon as the kingdom was established in his hand, he killed his servants who had slain the king his father,but the children of the murderers he didn’t put to death; according to that which is written in the book of the law of Moses, as Yahweh commanded, saying,“ The fathers shall not be put to death for the children, nor the children be put to death for the fathers; but every man shall die for his own sin.”
