If you oppress him at all, and if he does cry out to Me, I will assuredly hear his cry;and My anger will be kindled, and I will kill you with the sword, and your wives shall become widows and your children fatherless.

“ Because of the multitude of oppressions they cry out; They cry for help because of the arm of the mighty.

So that they caused the cry of the poor to come to Him, And that He would hear the cry of the afflicted—

Do not move the ancient boundary Or go into the fields of the fatherless,For their Redeemer is strong; He will plead their case against you.

“ Now when evening came, the owner of the vineyard* said to his foreman,‘ Call the laborers and pay them their wages, starting with the last group to the first.’

For the vineyard of the Lord of armies is the house of Israel, And the people of Judah are His delightful plant. So He waited for justice, but behold, there was bloodshed; For righteousness, but behold, a cry for help.

“ If my land cries out against me, And its furrows weep together;

One who has clean hands and a pure heart, Who has not lifted up his soul to deceit And has not sworn deceitfully.

Do not rob the poor because he is poor, Nor crush the needy at the gate;For the Lord will plead their case And take the life of those who rob them.
