Thou shalt not oppress a hired servant that is poor and needy, whether he be of thy brethren, or of thy sojourners that are in thy land within thy gates:

Do not take advantage of a hired worker who is poor and needy, whether that worker is a fellow Israelite or a foreigner residing in one of your towns.

Don’t take advantage of any hired worker who is poor and needy. That applies to your own people. It also applies to outsiders living in one of your towns.

“ You shall not oppress a hired worker who is poor and needy, whether he is one of your brothers or one of the sojourners who are in your land within your towns.

“ Never take advantage of poor and destitute laborers, whether they are fellow Israelites or foreigners living in your towns.

“ Do not oppress a hired worker who is poor and needy, whether one of your Israelite brothers or one of the resident aliens in a town in your land.

“ You shall not exploit a hired worker who is poor and needy, whether he is one of your countrymen or one of your strangers who are in your land in your towns.

“ You shall not oppress a hired servant who is poor and needy, whether one of your brethren or one of the aliens who is in your land within your gates.

“ Do not oppress a hired hand who is poor and needy, whether one of your brothers or one of the foreigners residing within a town in your land.

Thou shalt not oppress an hired servant[ that is] poor and needy,[ whether he be] of thy brethren, or of thy strangers that[ are] in thy land within thy gates:

You must not oppress a lowly and poor servant, whether one from among your fellow Israelites or from the resident foreigners who are living in your land and villages.

You shall not oppress a hired servant who is poor and needy, whether he is one of your brothers or one of the foreigners who are in your land within your gates.

And I will come near to you to judgment; and I will be a swift witness against the sorcerers, and against the adulterers, and against the false swearers, and against those that oppress the hireling in his wages, the widow, and the fatherless, and that turn aside the sojourner from his right, and fear not me, saith Jehovah of hosts.

He that oppresseth the poor reproacheth his Maker; But he that hath mercy on the needy honoreth him.

He that oppresseth the poor to increase his gain, And he that giveth to the rich, shall come only to want.

Hear this word, ye kine of Bashan, that are in the mountain of Samaria, that oppress the poor, that crush the needy, that say unto their lords, Bring, and let us drink.

they that pant after the dust of the earth on the head of the poor, and turn aside the way of the meek: and a man and his father go unto the same maiden, to profane my holy name:

If I have despised the cause of my man- servant or of my maid- servant, When they contended with me;What then shall I do when God riseth up? And when he visiteth, what shall I answer him?Did not he that made me in the womb make him? And did not one fashion us in the womb?

So that they go about naked without clothing, And being hungry they carry the sheaves.They make oil within the walls of these men; They tread their winepresses, and suffer thirst.

And if thy brother be waxed poor, and his hand fail with thee; then thou shalt uphold him: as a stranger and a sojourner shall he live with thee.Take thou no interest of him or increase, but fear thy God; that thy brother may live with thee.Thou shalt not give him thy money upon interest, nor give him thy victuals for increase.I am Jehovah your God, who brought you forth out of the land of Egypt, to give you the land of Canaan, and to be your God.And if thy brother be waxed poor with thee, and sell himself unto thee; thou shalt not make him to serve as a bond- servant.As a hired servant, and as a sojourner, he shall be with thee; he shall serve with thee unto the year of jubilee:then shall he go out from thee, he and his children with him, and shall return unto his own family, and unto the possession of his fathers shall he return.For they are my servants, whom I brought forth out of the land of Egypt: they shall not be sold as bondmen.Thou shalt not rule over him with rigor, but shalt fear thy God.

If thy brother, a Hebrew man, or a Hebrew woman, be sold unto thee, and serve thee six years; then in the seventh year thou shalt let him go free from thee.And when thou lettest him go free from thee, thou shalt not let him go empty:thou shalt furnish him liberally out of thy flock, and out of thy threshing- floor, and out of thy winepress; as Jehovah thy God hath blessed thee thou shalt give unto him.And thou shalt remember that thou wast a bondman in the land of Egypt, and Jehovah thy God redeemed thee: therefore I command thee this thing to- day.And it shall be, if he say unto thee, I will not go out from thee; because he loveth thee and thy house, because he is well with thee;then thou shalt take an awl, and thrust it through his ear unto the door, and he shall be thy servant for ever. And also unto thy maid- servant thou shalt do likewise.It shall not seem hard unto thee, when thou lettest him go free from thee; for to the double of the hire of a hireling hath he served thee six years: and Jehovah thy God will bless thee in all that thou doest.

In thee have they set light by father and mother; in the midst of thee have they dealt by oppression with the sojourner; in thee have they wronged the fatherless and the widow.

Hear this, O ye that would swallow up the needy, and cause the poor of the land to fail,

And in that same house remain, eating and drinking such things as they give: for the laborer is worthy of his hire. Go not from house to house.
