其民如牡獅、伏視耽耽、亦猶牝獅、孰敢攖之、祝爾者必見祝、詛爾者必見詛。○

民曰、昔耶和華顯現示我曰、我永愛爾、施爾以恆忍。

徒以言語咒詛者、必不降災、猶燕雀翱翔而不加害。

以色列族中心純潔、上帝錫恩、誠哉有是、

曰姑與偕往、惟我所諭爾必言之、於是巴蘭偕巴勒使臣往、

耶和華臨格、以言示巴蘭曰、返見巴勒、以此言告之。至則見巴勒、與摩押使臣、立於燔祭側、巴勒問曰、耶和華示爾何詞。巴蘭作歌曰、巴勒可興起而聞言、西撥子可傾耳以恭聽。上帝與人異、不失其信、不回其志、詎有言出而不行、既許而不應。我受命以祝嘏、上帝祝之、我難反之。在雅各家無咎、在以色列無戾、上帝耶和華其王也、民得其祐、歡聲而呼。上帝導民出埃及、其行之捷、可儗於兕、欲攻雅各家、卜之不利、欲擊以色列、占之不祥、於斯時也、人有言矣、上帝之待雅各以色列、何其奇與、斯民之興也如牝獅、其動也如牡獅、不食斷傷之肉、不飲被殺之血、則不偃卧。○巴勒謂巴蘭曰、爾毋加以詛語、亦毋進以祝詞。巴蘭對曰、我豈不曰、耶和華所諭、我必遵循。

其眷愛斯民、庇佑厥聖、民坐其前、以領訓誨。

我民當憶古昔摩押王巴勒謀害爾曹、庇耳子巴蘭與之黨同、自失亭至吉甲、耶和華之恩澤、爾其念之勿忘。

主耶和華曰、我過而見汝、若女及笄、我以裾覆爾、締結姻盟、于歸乎我。

如經云、吾愛雅各、不愛以掃、
