For they did not come to meet you with bread and water on your way when you came out of Egypt, and they hired Balaam son of Beor from Pethor in Aram Naharaim to pronounce a curse on you.

The Ammonites and Moabites didn’t come to meet you with food and water on your way out of Egypt. They even hired Balaam from Pethor in Aram Naharaim to put a curse on you. Balaam was the son of Beor.

他們在一切苦難當中，他也同受苦難，並且他面前的使者拯救他們。他以慈愛和憐憫救贖他們，在古時的日子時常抱他們，背他們。

他就仆倒在地，聽見有聲音對他說：「掃羅！掃羅！你為甚麼迫害我？」

巴蘭唱起詩歌說：「巴勒領我出亞蘭，摩押王領我出東方的山脈：『來啊，為我詛咒雅各；來啊，怒罵以色列。』

我必使你得極大的尊榮，無論你向我要甚麼，我都給你。只求你來為我詛咒這百姓。』」

耶洗別殺耶和華先知的時候，俄巴底把一百個先知藏了，每五十人藏在一個洞裏，拿餅和水供養他們。

我豈可把飲食，以及我為剪羊毛的人所宰的肉給那些我不知道從哪裏來的人呢？」

亞伯蘭擊敗基大老瑪和與他結盟的王回來的時候，所多瑪王出來，在沙微谷迎接他，沙微谷就是王的谷。又有撒冷王麥基洗德帶着餅和酒出來；他是至高神的祭司。

萬軍之耶和華在顯出榮耀之後，差遣我到擄掠你們的列國那裏，他如此說：「碰你們的就是碰他自己眼中的瞳人。

他派使者往大河附近的毗奪去，到比珥的兒子巴蘭的家鄉，召巴蘭來，說：「看哪，有一羣百姓從埃及出來；看哪，他們遮滿地面，住在我的對面。現在請你來，為我詛咒這百姓，因為他們比我強大，或許我能打敗他們，把他們趕出此地。因為我知道，你為誰祝福，誰就得福；你詛咒誰，誰就受詛咒。」摩押的長老和米甸的長老手裏拿着占卜的禮金到巴蘭那裏，將巴勒的話告訴他。

王回答他們說：『我實在告訴你們，這些事你們做在我弟兄中一個最小的身上，就是做在我身上了。』
