Suppose a man happens to see a virgin in a town. And she has promised to marry another man. But the man who happens to see her sleeps with her.

“若有处女已经许配丈夫，有人在城里遇见她，与她行淫，

“若一女子是处女，已经许配了人，有男子在城里遇见她，与她同寝，

“若一女子是处女，已经许配了人，有男子在城里遇见她，与她同寝，

“如果有人在城中遇见已经订婚的女子，与她行淫，

“如果有个少女，本来是处女，已经许配了人，有人在城里遇见了她，和她同寝，

「若有處女已經許配丈夫，有人在城裏遇見她，與她行淫，

「若一女子是處女，已經許配了人，有男子在城裏遇見她，與她同寢，

「若一女子是處女，已經許配了人，有男子在城裏遇見她，與她同寢，

「如果有人在城中遇見已經訂婚的女子，與她行淫，

“如果有個少女，本來是處女，已經許配了人，有人在城裡遇見了她，和她同寢，

『若有年少處女已經聘定給人，有人在城裏遇見了她，和她同寢，

處女受聘於人、而他人遇於邑中、與之苟合、

有處女受聘於人、而他人遇於邑中、與之苟合。

若處女為人所聘、有人於邑中與之苟合、

If a man happens to meet in a town a virgin pledged to be married and he sleeps with her,

“ If there is a betrothed virgin, and a man meets her in the city and lies with her,

“ Suppose a man meets a young woman, a virgin who is engaged to be married, and he has sexual intercourse with her. If this happens within a town,

If there is a young woman who is a virgin engaged to a man, and another man encounters her in the city and sleeps with her,

“ If there is a girl who is a virgin betrothed to a man, and another man finds her in the city and sleeps with her,

“ If a young woman who is a virgin is betrothed to a husband, and a man finds her in the city and lies with her,

If there be a damsel that is a virgin betrothed unto a husband, and a man find her in the city, and lie with her;

If there is a young woman who is a virgin engaged to a man, and another man encounters her in the city and has sex with her,

If a damsel[ that is] a virgin be betrothed unto an husband, and a man find her in the city, and lie with her;

If a virgin is engaged to a man and another man meets her in the city and has sexual relations with her,

If there is a young lady who is a virgin pledged to be married to a husband, and a man finds her in the city, and lies with her,

This is how the birth of Jesus the Messiah came about. His mother Mary and Joseph had promised to get married. But before they started to live together, it became clear that she was going to have a baby. She became pregnant by the power of the Holy Spirit.Her husband Joseph was faithful to the law. But he did not want to put her to shame in public. So he planned to divorce her quietly.

Has anyone promised to be married to a woman but hasn’t done it yet? Let him go home. If he doesn’t, he might die in battle. Then someone else will marry her.”
