Now it was the day of Preparation, and the next day was to be a special Sabbath. Because the Jewish leaders did not want the bodies left on the crosses during the Sabbath, they asked Pilate to have the legs broken and the bodies taken down.

Even the land was defiled; so I punished it for its sin, and the land vomited out its inhabitants.

God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.

Do not bring a detestable thing into your house or you, like it, will be set apart for destruction. Regard it as vile and utterly detest it, for it is set apart for destruction.

That is why the Israelites cannot stand against their enemies; they turn their backs and run because they have been made liable to destruction. I will not be with you anymore unless you destroy whatever among you is devoted to destruction.

Then Joshua put the kings to death and exposed their bodies on five poles, and they were left hanging on the poles until evening.At sunset Joshua gave the order and they took them down from the poles and threw them into the cave where they had been hiding. If anyone does not love the Lord, let that person be cursed! Come, Lord!
