Has anyone become pledged to a woman and not married her? Let him go home, or he may die in battle and someone else marry her.”

Has anyone promised to be married to a woman but hasn’t done it yet? Let him go home. If he doesn’t, he might die in battle. Then someone else will marry her.”

And is there any man who has betrothed a wife and has not taken her? Let him go back to his house, lest he die in the battle and another man take her.’

Has anyone here just become engaged to a woman but not yet married her? Well, you may go home and get married! You might die in the battle, and someone else would marry her.’

“如果人娶了新婦，不可從軍出征，也不可派他擔任甚麼公務，他可以在家賦閒一年，使他所娶的妻子快樂。

你和女子訂了婚，別人必和她同寢；你建造房屋，必不得住在裡面；你栽種葡萄園，必不得享用它的果子。

耶穌基督的降生是這樣的：耶穌的母親馬利亞許配了約瑟，他們還沒有成親，馬利亞就從聖靈懷了孕。

“如果有個少女，本來是處女，已經許配了人，有人在城裡遇見了她，和她同寢，你們就要把他們二人帶到當地的城門口，用石頭打死他們。那少女該死，是因為她雖在城裡，卻沒有呼叫；那男人該死，是因為他玷污了鄰舍的妻子；這樣，你就把那惡從你們中間除掉。如果有人在田間遇見了已經許配人的少女，拉住她，和她同寢，只要把那和她同寢的人處死。

眾人一致推辭，頭一個說：‘我買了一塊地，不得不去看一看，請原諒我。’另一個說：‘我買了五對牛，要去試一試，請原諒我。’又一個說：‘我剛結了婚，不能去。’

當兵的人不讓世務纏身，為要使那招兵的人歡喜。
