Give the people these orders:‘ You are about to pass through the territory of your relatives the descendants of Esau, who live in Seir. They will be afraid of you, but be very careful.

Here are the orders I want you to give the people. Tell them,‘ You are about to pass through the territory of your relatives. They are from the family line of Esau. They live in Seir. They will be afraid of you. But be very careful.

and command the people,“ You are about to pass through the territory of your brothers, the people of Esau, who live in Seir; and they will be afraid of you. So be very careful.

Give these orders to the people:“ You will pass through the country belonging to your relatives the Edomites, the descendants of Esau, who live in Seir. The Edomites will feel threatened, so be careful.

Now Moses sent messengers from Kadesh to the king of Edom.“ Thus says your brother Israel:‘ You know all the hardship that has befallen us,how our fathers went down to Egypt, and we dwelt in Egypt a long time, and the Egyptians afflicted us and our fathers.When we cried out to the Lord, He heard our voice and sent the Angel and brought us up out of Egypt; now here we are in Kadesh, a city on the edge of your border.Please let us pass through your country. We will not pass through fields or vineyards, nor will we drink water from wells; we will go along the King’s Highway; we will not turn aside to the right hand or to the left until we have passed through your territory.’”Then Edom said to him,“ You shall not pass through my land, lest I come out against you with the sword.”So the children of Israel said to him,“ We will go by the Highway, and if I or my livestock drink any of your water, then I will pay for it; let me only pass through on foot, nothing more.”Then he said,“ You shall not pass through.” So Edom came out against them with many men and with a strong hand.Thus Edom refused to give Israel passage through his territory; so Israel turned away from him.

Then the chiefs of Edom will be dismayed; The mighty men of Moab, Trembling will take hold of them; All the inhabitants of Canaan will melt away.

“ You shall not abhor an Edomite, for he is your brother. You shall not abhor an Egyptian, because you were an alien in his land.

that you may become blameless and harmless, children of God without fault in the midst of a crooked and perverse generation, among whom you shine as lights in the world,

And Moab was exceedingly afraid of the people because they were many, and Moab was sick with dread because of the children of Israel.So Moab said to the elders of Midian,“ Now this company will lick up everything around us, as an ox licks up the grass of the field.” And Balak the son of Zippor was king of the Moabites at that time.

Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.

And He said to them,“ Take heed and beware of covetousness, for one’s life does not consist in the abundance of the things he possesses.”

“ For violence against your brother Jacob, Shame shall cover you, And you shall be cut off forever.In the day that you stood on the other side— In the day that strangers carried captive his forces, When foreigners entered his gates And cast lots for Jerusalem— Even you were as one of them.“ But you should not have gazed on the day of your brother In the day of his captivity; Nor should you have rejoiced over the children of Judah In the day of their destruction; Nor should you have spoken proudly In the day of distress.You should not have entered the gate of My people In the day of their calamity. Indeed, you should not have gazed on their affliction In the day of their calamity, Nor laid hands on their substance In the day of their calamity.

And now, indeed, I am going to my people. Come, I will advise you what this people will do to your people in the latter days.”So he took up his oracle and said:“ The utterance of Balaam the son of Beor, And the utterance of the man whose eyes are opened;The utterance of him who hears the words of God, And has the knowledge of the Most High, Who sees the vision of the Almighty, Who falls down, with eyes wide open:“ I see Him, but not now; I behold Him, but not near; A Star shall come out of Jacob; A Scepter shall rise out of Israel, And batter the brow of Moab, And destroy all the sons of tumult.“ And Edom shall be a possession; Seir also, his enemies, shall be a possession, While Israel does valiantly.

Walk in wisdom toward those who are outside, redeeming the time.

See then that you walk circumspectly, not as fools but as wise,
