Here are the orders I want you to give the people. Tell them,‘ You are about to pass through the territory of your relatives. They are from the family line of Esau. They live in Seir. They will be afraid of you. But be very careful.

Give these orders to the people:“ You will pass through the country belonging to your relatives the Edomites, the descendants of Esau, who live in Seir. The Edomites will feel threatened, so be careful.

And Moses sent messengers from Kadesh unto the king of Edom, Thus saith thy brother Israel, Thou knowest all the travail that hath befallen us:How our fathers went down into Egypt, and we have dwelt in Egypt a long time; and the Egyptians vexed us, and our fathers:And when we cried unto the LORD, he heard our voice, and sent an angel, and hath brought us forth out of Egypt: and, behold, we[ are] in Kadesh, a city in the uttermost of thy border:Let us pass, I pray thee, through thy country: we will not pass through the fields, or through the vineyards, neither will we drink[ of] the water of the wells: we will go by the king’s[ high] way, we will not turn to the right hand nor to the left, until we have passed thy borders.And Edom said unto him, Thou shalt not pass by me, lest I come out against thee with the sword.And the children of Israel said unto him, We will go by the high way: and if I and my cattle drink of thy water, then I will pay for it: I will only, without[ doing] any thing[ else], go through on my feet.And he said, Thou shalt not go through. And Edom came out against him with much people, and with a strong hand.Thus Edom refused to give Israel passage through his border: wherefore Israel turned away from him.

Then the dukes of Edom shall be amazed; the mighty men of Moab, trembling shall take hold upon them; all the inhabitants of Canaan shall melt away.

Thou shalt not abhor an Edomite; for he[ is] thy brother: thou shalt not abhor an Egyptian; because thou wast a stranger in his land.

That ye may be blameless and harmless, the sons of God, without rebuke, in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation, among whom ye shine as lights in the world;

And Moab was sore afraid of the people, because they[ were] many: and Moab was distressed because of the children of Israel.And Moab said unto the elders of Midian, Now shall this company lick up all[ that are] round about us, as the ox licketh up the grass of the field. And Balak the son of Zippor[ was] king of the Moabites at that time.

Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.

And he said unto them, Take heed, and beware of covetousness: for a man’s life consisteth not in the abundance of the things which he possesseth.

For[ thy] violence against thy brother Jacob shame shall cover thee, and thou shalt be cut off for ever.In the day that thou stoodest on the other side, in the day that the strangers carried away captive his forces, and foreigners entered into his gates, and cast lots upon Jerusalem, even thou[ wast] as one of them.But thou shouldest not have looked on the day of thy brother in the day that he became a stranger; neither shouldest thou have rejoiced over the children of Judah in the day of their destruction; neither shouldest thou have spoken proudly in the day of distress.Thou shouldest not have entered into the gate of my people in the day of their calamity; yea, thou shouldest not have looked on their affliction in the day of their calamity, nor have laid[ hands] on their substance in the day of their calamity;

And now, behold, I go unto my people: come[ therefore, and] I will advertise thee what this people shall do to thy people in the latter days.And he took up his parable, and said, Balaam the son of Beor hath said, and the man whose eyes are open hath said:He hath said, which heard the words of God, and knew the knowledge of the most High,[ which] saw the vision of the Almighty, falling[ into a trance], but having his eyes open:I shall see him, but not now: I shall behold him, but not nigh: there shall come a Star out of Jacob, and a Sceptre shall rise out of Israel, and shall smite the corners of Moab, and destroy all the children of Sheth.And Edom shall be a possession, Seir also shall be a possession for his enemies; and Israel shall do valiantly.

Walk in wisdom toward them that are without, redeeming the time.

See then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise,
