Give the people these orders:‘ You are about to pass through the territory of your relatives the descendants of Esau, who live in Seir. They will be afraid of you, but be very careful.

Here are the orders I want you to give the people. Tell them,‘ You are about to pass through the territory of your relatives. They are from the family line of Esau. They live in Seir. They will be afraid of you. But be very careful.

and command the people,“ You are about to pass through the territory of your brothers, the people of Esau, who live in Seir; and they will be afraid of you. So be very careful.

Give these orders to the people:“ You will pass through the country belonging to your relatives the Edomites, the descendants of Esau, who live in Seir. The Edomites will feel threatened, so be careful.

Command the people: You are about to travel through the territory of your brothers, the descendants of Esau, who live in Seir. They will be afraid of you, so be very careful.

Instruct these people as follows:‘ You are about to cross the border of your relatives the descendants of Esau, who inhabit Seir. They will be afraid of you, so watch yourselves carefully.

摩西从加低斯差遣使者去见以东王，说：“你的弟兄以色列人这样说：‘我们所遭遇的一切艰难，就是我们的列祖下到埃及，我们在埃及久住；埃及人恶待我们的列祖和我们，我们哀求耶和华的时候，他听了我们的声音，差遣使者把我们从埃及领出来。这事你都知道。如今，我们在你边界上的城加低斯。求你容我们从你的地经过。我们不走田间和葡萄园，也不喝井里的水，只走大道，不偏左右，直到过了你的境界。’”以东王说：“你不可从我的地经过，免得我带刀出去攻击你。”以色列人说：“我们要走大道上去；我们和牲畜若喝你的水，必给你价值。不求别的，只求你容我们步行过去。”以东王说：“你们不可经过！”就率领许多人出来，要用强硬的手攻击以色列人。这样，以东王不肯容以色列人从他的境界过去。于是他们转去，离开他。

那时，以东的族长惊惶，摩押的英雄被战兢抓住，迦南的居民心都消化了。

“不可憎恶以东人，因为他是你的弟兄。不可憎恶埃及人，因为你在他的地上作过寄居的。

使你们无可指摘，诚实无伪，在这弯曲悖谬的世代作神无瑕疵的儿女。你们显在这世代中，好像明光照耀，

摩押人因以色列民甚多，就大大惧怕，心内忧急，对米甸的长老说：“现在这众人要把我们四围所有的一概舔尽，就如牛舔尽田间的草一般。”那时西拨的儿子巴勒作摩押王。

你们的光也当这样照在人前，叫他们看见你们的好行为，便将荣耀归给你们在天上的父。”

于是对众人说：“你们要谨慎自守，免去一切的贪心，因为人的生命不在乎家道丰富。”

“因你向兄弟雅各行强暴，羞愧必遮盖你，你也必永远断绝。当外人掳掠雅各的财物，外邦人进入他的城门，为耶路撒冷拈阄的日子，你竟站在一旁，像与他们同伙。你兄弟遭难的日子，你不当瞪眼看着；犹大人被灭的日子，你不当因此欢乐；他们遭难的日子，你不当说狂傲的话。我民遭灾的日子，你不当进他们的城门；他们遭灾的日子，你不当瞪眼看着他们受苦；他们遭灾的日子，你不当伸手抢他们的财物；

“现在我要回本族去。你来，我告诉你这民日后要怎样待你的民。”他就题起诗歌说：“比珥的儿子巴兰说：‘眼目闭住的人说，得听神的言语，明白至高者的意旨，看见全能者的异象，眼目睁开而仆倒的人说：我看他却不在现时；我望他却不在近日。有星要出于雅各，有杖要兴于以色列，必打破摩押的四角，毁坏扰乱之子。他必得以东为基业，又得仇敌之地西珥为产业；以色列必行事勇敢。

你们要爱惜光阴，用智慧与外人交往。

你们要谨慎行事，不要像愚昧人，当像智慧人。
