as the descendants of Esau, who live in Seir, and the Moabites, who live in Ar, did for us— until we cross the Jordan into the land the Lord our God is giving us.”

The people of Esau, who live in Seir, allowed us to do that. The people of Moab, who live in Ar, also allowed us to do it. So let us walk through until we go across the Jordan River. Then we’ll be able to go into the land the Lord our God is giving us.”

遣使告以東王曰、請容我過爾境、以東王不允、遣使見摩押王、亦不允、以色列人遂居加低斯、既經曠野、遶以東摩押之境、由摩押東而來、建營於亞嫩外、亞嫩為摩押界、不入其境、

以東人對曰、勿過我境、免我執刃、出而攻爾、

亞捫人、摩押人、不得入耶和華會、凡屬斯族者、雖歷十世、至於永遠、亦不得入耶和華會、因爾昔出埃及、彼不以餅與水、迎爾於途、且買米所波大米之比奪人、比珥子巴蘭詛爾、

當知爾上帝耶和華非為爾義、錫爾沃壤為業、爾乃強項之民、

以色列人歟、我今教爾遵守之典章律例、宜聽從之以得生、爾祖之上帝耶和華賜爾之地、可入而承之、

耶和華諭我曰、勿擾摩押、勿與之戰、其地我不爾予、蓋我已將亞珥賜羅得子孫為業、

惟權與量、俱必準確公平、致可延年、於爾上帝耶和華所錫之地、

巡營諭民、宜備餱糧、三日之內、必濟約但、入據爾上帝耶和華賜爾為業之地、時、約書亞語流便人、迦得人、及瑪拿西支派之半曰、爾當追念耶和華僕摩西諭爾之言云、爾上帝耶和華既已錫爾綏安、亦必錫爾斯土、爾之妻孥牲畜、可留於約但東、摩西予爾之地、惟爾勇士、必皆執兵、先爾兄弟而濟以助之、迨耶和華錫爾兄弟綏安、如錫於爾、使之亦得爾上帝耶和華所賜之地、後乃返得爾業、即耶和華僕摩西所予約但東日出之地、

我今以其典章誡命諭爾、爾當遵守、則爾與子孫、皆可得福、亦可延年、於爾上帝耶和華所賜之地、○

遵爾上帝耶和華命、敬爾父母、以致延年納福、於爾上帝耶和華所錫之地、○

耶和華緣爾故怒我、誓不容我渡約但、入其錫爾為業之美地、

當敬爾父母、以致延年於爾上帝耶和華所賜之地、○
