as the descendants of Esau, who live in Seir, and the Moabites, who live in Ar, did for us— until we cross the Jordan into the land the Lord our God is giving us.”

The people of Esau, who live in Seir, allowed us to do that. The people of Moab, who live in Ar, also allowed us to do it. So let us walk through until we go across the Jordan River. Then we’ll be able to go into the land the Lord our God is giving us.”

然后派遣使者去见以东王，说，‘求你让我们经过你的领土。’以东王却不答应。他们又派遣使者去见摩押王，摩押王也不答应。于是，以色列人就住在加低斯。后来，他们走过旷野，绕过以东和摩押，到了摩押的东边，在摩押的边界亚嫩河东岸扎营，并没有进入摩押境内。

以东王却说：“你们不可从我这里经过，否则我必兵戎相见。”

“亚扪人或摩押人及其十代以内的子孙都不可加入耶和华的会众。因为在你们离开埃及的途中，他们没有用水和食物款待你们，还雇用美索不达米亚的毗夺人——比珥的儿子巴兰咒诅你们。

你们要知道，耶和华赐给你们那佳美之地不是因为你们有好品德。其实你们是顽固不化的人。

“以色列人啊，要聆听我传授给你们的律法，要切实遵行，以便你们可以存活，并进入你们祖先的上帝耶和华赐给你们的那片土地。

耶和华对我说，‘不可骚扰摩押人，不可与他们争战，因为我不会把他们的土地赐给你，我已把亚珥赐给罗得的子孙为业。’

你们必须诚实无欺，使用同样的砝码和量器，以便在你们的上帝耶和华要赐给你们的土地上得享长寿。

“你们要走遍全营，吩咐大家预备好食物。因为三天之内，你们就要过约旦河，去占领你们的上帝耶和华赐给你们的土地。”约书亚又对吕便支派、迦得支派和玛拿西半个支派的人说：“你们要牢记耶和华的仆人摩西吩咐你们的话，他说你们的上帝耶和华要把约旦河东面的土地赐给你们，让你们安居。你们的妻子儿女和牲畜可以留在约旦河东岸摩西分给你们的土地上，但你们当中所有的勇士要带着兵器先过约旦河，帮助你们的弟兄。要等到你们的上帝耶和华使你们的弟兄像你们一样得到祂所赐的土地，安居以后，你们才可以回到约旦河东，在耶和华的仆人摩西分给你们的土地上定居。”

我今天将祂的律例和诫命传授给你们，你们要遵守，以便你们及子孙都蒙福，在你们上帝耶和华所赐的土地上得享长寿。”

“‘要遵照你的上帝耶和华的吩咐孝敬父母，以便在你的上帝耶和华要赐给你的土地上享长寿，蒙祝福。

因你们的缘故，耶和华向我发怒，起誓不让我过约旦河、进入祂赐给你们作产业的那片佳美之地。
